A fragrance like a DSDS starlet!
I would like to say in advance that I am an absolute advocate of designer fragrances and have expressly forbidden my nose to become arrogant. But it is now unfortunately so, if you have looked deep into the niche, must capture a designer fragrances already massive.

Spoiler: Myslf has not managed to do that. Let me order my thoughts on this.

Yves Saint Laurent is a house number. And L'Oréal would be very stupid, of course, if the this image of the brand would not use.

With Myslf, however, I must immediately think of a casting show. One could think here that an "egg-laying Wollmilchsau" should be marketed. There were many perfumers in the recall. A true race they have delivered, without question.

There was certainly the brave, which has recognized that the Parfumbubble now knows what happens in the niche so, could not be sold because of its corners and edges "mega"...

He did not get into the second Recall......

There was certainly the beautiful, who has talent and you constantly ask yourself - Why do you do at "Germany seeks the super perfume" with? Too valuable ingredients, too expensive to produce for nen Maßenmarkt....

Not in the second Recall.

There was certainly the rebel, a guy who hits the table and asserts himself. But no, that did not fit with the jury boss at L'Oréal - you want something that sells "hammermäßig" well and pleases the masses. A fragrance that appeals to teens just as financially, potent men!

Not in the second Recall.

Won then 08/15. a talent, what is so interchangeable, as well as every winner of DSDS. A talent, what one / two years performs well and nourishes the brand - until in the best case to the follow-up "Le Parfum" Flanker, or even the setting. The fragrance works solidly on sillage and longevity and is perfectly tailored for the average man in his early 30's. Perfect for his everyday 9- 17 job at the office. He is pleasantly perceived without being annoying - but then also after the finished meeting in the stuffy conference room to be forgotten again.

A talent that is incredibly photogenic, but whose hit you have forgotten in 6 months. Exactly that is all Myslf ! It is interchangeable! It could be composed by Dieter Bohlen. It is not something that can and should stay. No, it is supposed to create exactly one season quota, only to be replaced again. Le Parfum, Elixir, whatever...

One did not have the goal to produce a milestone. The goal here is to pleasen the crowd. And that will / does the fragrance. For this he is too pleasing and Mr. Mustermann can say that he owns a WHOLE new fragrance. How should he know better?

This shower gel bergamot, wood and ambrox chords number we had felt 1000 times - yet Myslf will be bought. This has already worked with "Brother Louie" and "Atlantis is calling" - why not here?

Will it sell? Not for long - but a lot in a short time! But that's not bad, because when the new talent is burning up - already starts the next season.

I think my maxi CD of "Take me tonight" by Alexander I got rid of in 2005 at a flea market for 50 cents.

With Myslf it would really go with the devil, if I could still remember his name in 6 months.

No - he has not come to stay. But - everyone at L'Oréal already knows that and the castings for the next season have already started...

Poor "Superstar"....

Why does the fragrance come off so extremely badly here?
To be honest, I am very surprised at how badly Myslf was rated on EssenceVitae. To be honest, I've had much worse on my skin and clothes. You have to hand it to Yves Saint Laurent, the Myslf was promoted properly and the manufacturer's samples were distributed en masse. A few months ago, I was able to secure a sample directly from YSL and a few days ago, I received a free sample from a well-known perfume retailer, which was packaged relatively smartly. As this was quite space-consuming for a 1.2 ml atomizer, I tested the fragrance extensively today. I came to the conclusion that I quite like the scent, even if it's nothing groundbreaking. The durability is okay at 6 to 7 hours and the scent lingers a little longer close to the skin. I find the sillage a little weaker.

The top note starts citrusy, aquatic, fresh and slightly synthetic. I recognize bergamot and a certain shower gel aroma here. The heart note becomes sweeter, remains fruity and is floral thanks to orange blossom. The base then becomes quite creamy and smells woody and delicately balsamic with a certain skin accord thanks to ambroxan.

Even though I like the fragrance and it is quite appealing and suitable for the masses, I probably won't be allowed to buy a bottle. In the end, the fragrance DNA is too youthful for me and therefore doesn't quite suit me.

Ds wchtgst Krz: M-YSL-F
They thought of a nice name, dear YSL.

MYSLF
M - YSL - F
Male - Yves Saint Laurent - Female

Well, are you sick now? ;P You're welcome! :))

Even though I think the scent of MYSELF speaks perfectly for itself, everyone interprets something else into it... paradoxical somehow, and yet desired in my opinion.

I think I have this fragrance really well figured out.

Many say or write that it smells like a lot of things you know... but then again not exactly like a copy of something, you can't put your finger on it.
Not fish, not meat, but ... Protein? Or something like that. (Also vegan soy protein, if you like!)

Some people associate it with Libre Eau de Parfum, which is not quite true, as Libre is much more opulent, more feminine, more defined. Louder!

I would like to take a short break...

Alongside other trends and movements in the perfume sector, there is currently a movement of unobtrusive minimalism, as I would like to call it.
Because mankind in the industrialized countries has gone so wild with all the excess that some now like to go through the day with understatement again. What counts most are inner values and ideals, right? Everything should be as efficient as possible, precisely coordinated. Yes, not too much of anything, if possible too little, you should be modest. And above all, don't offend anyone! Don't offend anyone, there are so many different truths.
Political correctness, feminism, LGBTQXYZ, modesty, values, oppose globalism, Americanism, commerce and our economic world.

But after the opulent abundance in all its colors has been lived for a long time, (There are already really many pick-sweet "men's" fragrances that men would NEVER have worn 20 years ago), one wanted to devote oneself to the new topic.

A template for many things back then was probably Molecule 01, which showed that a single isolated chemical accord (in this case Iso-E-Super) can be used to create a particularly fragrant scent.

Then came the ambergris / ambroxan surge from the industry:
"A dab of ambrox, a bit of freshness, and there are already banknotes on the table!" ;P

Bleu de Chanel Eau de Toilette, Sauvage Eau de Toilette, Aventus (Or is there only real ambergris in it? I don't think so ;P) etc. etc...

"After the cow was milked, and its calves too. The producers greedily hit their bellies!"

But that's understandable, now that each of the fragrances mentioned has flanker-without-end, you can think again.

And I think this is where this trend comes from, of fragrances that are supposed to be very subtle, but at the same time want to be very convincing and special despite their minimalism.

For me, fragrances such as CK One Eau de Toilette (which is currently celebrating its resurrection with Flanker), Hero Eau de Toilette, H24 Eau de Toilette, K Eau de Toilette and others have embraced this conservative trend and launched products that shine with perfect minimalism. Often in refillable bottles and made only from vegan ingredients, of course ;P

Yves Saint Laurent wanted to go one better and have actually massaged a little bit of the glowing Libre Eau de Parfum heart into this new composition MYSLF, in my opinion.
An ingenious move: first Libre, the women's fragrance, which has a masculine edge thanks to vetiver, among other things, and now Myslf, the men's fragrance, which has a slightly feminine touch thanks to the white floral orange blossom with a sweet anecdote to vanilla.
No wonder, then, that women (or people who mainly wear fragrances marketed as women's fragrances) often seem to like MYSLF very much because it reminds them of many of their beloved women's fragrances without explicitly coming too close to any of them.

So here we have not only minimalism, but also the genderfluid, not to say queer, zeitgeist flowing into products.

I would like to say that I am not necessarily an opponent of the sexualization of fragrances, so I like them to have an identity. Because the wearers have that too! (No matter which one!)
You can just wear fragrances ("wear"), and absolutely anything that's fun is allowed! ;)

And that works really well here! In all directions, without losing any of its excitement or potential. On the contrary, it smells so good that you don't think much about the direction.

I would describe the fragrance as floral, slightly sweet. With seamlessly incorporated, slightly hidden citrus (difficult to isolate from the rest).
The woods are only delicately hinted at, as small as in the fragrance note pictogram above ;P
A sexy orange blossom radiates from the center, for me slightly reminiscent of Fahrenheit 32 Eau de Toilette.
Perhaps a bit like the more androgynous, sweeter brother of Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme (1994) Eau de Toilette, or its successor Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme (2012) Eau de Toilette, which is even drier.

I'll be honest, I'm a very passionate perfume enthusiast. (See my collection ...) I sprayed 26 perfumes on paper strips in the store today and took them home to "analyze". :D

And there were a lot of really good ones... but I keep wanting to smell the back of my Myslf hand, it's so delicious. (Although you notice it more when you let it drift... like Molecule 01, I think.)

I find this fragrance a very interesting approach, an understatement with which I can identify well, because Myslf is still able to be exciting and interesting, and perhaps even captivate the other person.
YSL can simply be >sensual<.

Perhaps this little inconspicuousness is even one of the most interesting releases of 2023, for me at least. :)

Durability & silage are in the medium range, the radiance remains quite good. With overspraying and possibly hair / garment application, I think you can easily get through the day, if not longer.

Unreserved test and buy recommendation from MYSLF. ;P

Doesn't reinvent the wheel, but is solid and good
Myslf has a classic designer DNA. Fresh, synthetic and pleasantly sweet.
It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but is that a bad thing? No.
This fragrance smells pleasant, clean, it makes you feel good and it also goes down really well.

Myslf is really very clean, almost soapy and reminds a little of fabric softener or fresh laundry. Slightly floral nuances in combination with fresh notes and an ambroxan base.
In most cases, ambroxan also boosts longevity. Here, however, I have to say that the fragrance doesn't have super good longevity.
It lasts for five to a maximum of seven hours on me and it becomes much more skin-like after about four hours.

This fragrance will definitely appeal to many on the outside, even if it doesn't do anything special.
The sometimes lousy reviews definitely come from our little bubble. Some simply have very high expectations.
However, the average Joe outside the bubble will be won over by this fragrance and the compliments it receives show that.

Stable fragrance with many BUTs
This fragrance is like a stylish new office worker in a Parisian suburb wearing it during his first week. Neither too intrusive nor too bold, neither too stuffy nor too posh, neither too aggressive nor too lax, and not too masculine either. A fragrance that unfolds perfectly in the office, with bergamot adding a light, tart freshness before ambroxan and patchouli with floral facets transform it into a dark, sophisticated fabric softener scent.
I have shown this fragrance to three people so far and they all really liked it. So why the bad reviews? This fragrance does not bring anything new, many nuances are similar to other perfumes, yet it is a pleasant fragrance, which unfortunately is not particularly long-lasting, but the next Elixir..uh... Flanker will perhaps do better.

A mess! Synthetic, sweet, fruity, bubblegummy, slightly woody. Nothing new, a cheap smelling scent for young people, with a poor longevity.
