The Italian James Dean of the time
"You already know that this is the men's perfume? I'll be happy to show you the women's perfumes. Do you already know the new V..."
("I just know one thing above all: that my bias towards employees of a certain perfumery chain is unfortunately justified," she would have liked to reply, or preach a sermon about how unprofessional and sales-promoting it can be to forbid non-men to buy products whose marketing has chosen men as a target group, but instead she escapes with a polite) "Yes, thank you. I would like to test what has changed in the new version here apart from the bottle."

The bottle is still pretty to look at, still reminiscent of studs from "Rockstud" bags and shoes, exclusive, stylish - and now with a lid and a rivet neck ruff reminiscent of S&M games, which it did not need. For a moment, she wonders if Valentino Garavani "the one and only" also secretly laughed at this, if he ever got to see the design at all.

Tfft tfft. One spray on the wrist, one on paper. In the event that this "Uomo" is no longer himself, she does not want to have regretted her daring.
More than Tfft tfft it needs then also not for the small time travel.
It is October 2020 and Tshajbukoshka gets a call. Whether she would like to come. Signor Il heartbreaker's best friend has exhibited all her works at home and made a small vernissage out of it, for a select circle, a maximum of five people may admire them today. Tshajbukoshka calculates: Malena and her boyfriend, as well as her best friend, then there would be Signor - and she would be the fifth person. She would not miss this opportunity! Faster she had never grabbed the most expensive bottle of Primitivo from the cupboard into the bag, from the "other", Mario, Valentino, and redone the lipstick. She hears him before she sees him and is out of her mind like a 14-year-old in 2010 before the concert of Justin Bieber. That voice, deep, grown-up, louder than a vacuum cleaner with a V8 engine and just bursting with confidence. In her mind's eye, she sees him gesticulating, throwing things around and straightening his curls every now and then with a well (enough) camouflaged head movement backwards (not for Tshajbukoshka's attentive eyes). His presence is literally felt, one could almost think that the bass of his voice makes the floor vibrate, especially when he rolls the 'R' extended. The charm of the Italian remake of James Dean is not so easy to escape, not even if you have to listen to him just strained, as he muses, of course in Italian, about the herbs on his balcony.
"Signorina, I smoked today," he confesses meekly, while looking at her with furrowed brows, making a pout and turning his cheek. She smells nothing of it. He smells the way he always looks: scrumptious, mysterious, special, forbidden good. Oh mio Dio.
"You've had a bit to drink, though, so I'll be driving today." - "Really? Be meravigliosa! I thought you were mad." (- How could I possibly be mad. I probably wouldn't even be if I woke up in the morning and you told me you just stole half my lungs and liver) She laughs. The evening is excellent, the artwork on display impressive - and yet, in a few months after this day, Tshajbukoshka will be asked only to remember him, what he looked like, what he said, what he did - the Italian tidbit who lets himself be carried into his own car, drunk as a skunk, only to protest loudly because he still has to hold the driver's door open for his signorina and apologize to his car for not driving himself. Strapped on the back seat he gives his interpretations of Andrea Bocelli, Il Volo and Random to the best with a fervor, which could conclude on ten opera singers.
At some point, it gets quiet. The singing has stopped. Tshajbukoshka opens her window and adjusts the rearview mirror to see him in it, sleeping peacefully with her stuffed animal in his arms, his curls in his forehead. ("Sweet!")
Once home, she gets him just awake enough to move, supported by her, up to the bed. In full gear. The smell of his leather jacket stays there until the next morning, although Tshajbukoshka manages with difficulty to get rid of it (and his shoes). So that's why people in horror movies never pick kidnap victims who are a head taller and more than thirty kilos heavier than themselves.
An exhausted Tshajbukoshka throws herself on the bed after a wonderful evening.
"How do you actually know it's love?"
- "When it smells like home on his temple, you don't know it, you feel it."
That Valentino, it's just him.
A phrase that fits Tshajbukoshka, Signor Il heartbreaker and Valentino alike: "I'm a year later a year older, but apart from the appearance I have not changed, at least that's how I feel - and those who know me know and confirm it gladly."

Comment from my friend: "You always smell so delicious, for you I would become a cannibal."
Another friend: "Sure you're not a lesbian? Somehow it emphasizes your masculine streak."
Her friend:"
"Can I have a go? I like this one, hopefully it will suit me too."

The roundest iris fragrance
For me, the reformulated Valentino Uomo Intense is the most rounded iris fragrance that is both elegant and versatile.

I have tried my way through many popular iris fragrances over the years, here is a small (purely subjective) comparison:
- Dior Homme Intense (2011) : Very elegant, beautiful fragrance, but a little less wearable for me due to the familiar "lipstick" note. Still great for festive occasions.
- L'Homme : Soapy iris & poor performance on me. Unfortunately never really convinced me.
- L'Homme Intense : For me the better Prada L'Homme. Very nice fragrance. Darker than L'Homme, but the soapy iris is the same. Can also be worn as a daily in the colder months. Somehow less feel-good factor than VUI though.
- Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum : Also a beautiful fragrance, but rather unspectacular. What put me off buying it is this "buttery" note, which I don't like here. Incidentally, I also smell the same note in Gentleman Givenchy Réserve Privée.
- Valentino Uomo Intense (2016) : I can only remember that it was too leathery for me when I tested it a few years ago. But maybe it's just that my taste has changed.

I've often heard that Dior Homme Intense (2011), Valentino Uomo Intense & Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum smell almost the same. I can't confirm that with the best will in the world.

So back to the "new" Valentino Uomo Intense and its fragrance progression:

The fragrance starts fresh and, in comparison to all the fragrances mentioned, more fruity. The fruitiness comes from a gentle mandarin, which is neither sour nor particularly sweet and fits perfectly into the overall picture. It is immediately accompanied by a slightly powdery, fresh and elegant iris. I like the iris note better than in any other fragrance. It simply has an extremely high-quality feel and doesn't smell like a make-up box, soap, butter, etc. like some others do.
The leather note is also slightly present, but harmonizes perfectly with the other notes and never seems dominant or too harsh.
In the drydown, a super beautiful, sweet-creamy vanilla is added, which can still be detected on clothing for days.
All in all, simply a very well-rounded, elegant fragrance that simply makes you feel good and enhances your outfit.

Wearability:

The fragrance is sweet, but not as sweet as many other winter fragrances. It is very elegant, but adapts to the occasion. Of course, it really comes into its own with evening wear, but it can also be worn in the office and for leisure - especially in the colder half of the year.

Performance: Good to very good, but not beast fashion.
Flacon: Quite chic, but I liked the old one without the spikes on the neck better. The spray head is perfect though.

You Awesome Son of a Gun! or The Iris-Vanilla-Tonka Wedding
Assuming that my beloved Iris fragrances by DIOR and PRADA, whose names I don't even need to mention here, would serve me wonderfully for all times, I first stumbled across the Valentino Uomo (love!) and its bigger brother, which is intended more for the evening hours, the Valentino Uomo Intense and what can I say. Here we go again!
How wonderful is this fragrance.
I tested this fragrance on my left arm directly with my beloved Dior Homme Intense (2011) on my right arm to make sure that I don't just buy it and then not use it because the redundancy is too great. And no, it's "worth it", even if you have DHI.
Just as its little brother Valentino Uomo has the softest sweetness I know, Valentino Uomo Intense is not even close to being "intense" in the true sense of the word. VUI is gentler and softer than DHI, doesn't have the lipstick accord and ends with an iris-vanilla-tonka wedding that is not to be missed!
It's a wonderful fragrance in a wonderful bottle, and I want to wear a leather jacket every time, spray this fragrance so that the black leather jacket on black and gray jeans says "Here comes a daring, dangerous man", only to have the Valentino Uomo Intense intervene very quickly to correct: "Oh, that's a gentle guy. He's not dangerous.".

The mandarin must be mentioned at the beginning:
The fragrance begins incredibly wonderfully fruity, so that this fragrance stands out again from the wonderful other iris fragrances. What the dry lipstick accord is to Dior Homme Intense (2011), the mandarin at the beginning is to Valentino Uomo Intense, which introduces the wonderfully warm drydown. This fragrance is a mixture of leather jacket and fur. A gentle roughneck with spikes that don't hurt, just as the bottle announces.

Try it, friends. Who knows how long it will be around.

The triumvirate of iris fragrances: the fruity one
If you come across powdery iridescent fragrances at some point on your journey through the world of perfume, there are three names you can't avoid: Dior, Givenchy and Valentino.
Leaving aside the equally successful flankers and more intense perfume variants, there are three "big" fragrances:
Gentleman Givenchy Eau de Parfum
Dior Homme Intense (2011)
Valentino Uomo Intense

The Valentino Uomo Intense will be the first one I will give my opinion on here, after I have been able to test all three for a certain amount of time.
In general, I really like the fragrance! It is the freshest of all three and also totally fruity!
It generally starts off very loud and spicy, and it can hardly hide its sweetness. Over time, it becomes subtly milder, but it still retains its main notes: mandarin/orange, iris and also something more tart (I've often read about leather here, but I don't have that association at the moment).
As already mentioned, I think Valentino Uomo Intense is the freshest and also the fruitiest of the three fragrances mentioned above. Of course, it is perfect for the cold season, but I can imagine it just as well in the club, maybe just not on very young men?
Personally, I imagine this type of fragrance on adults anyway, but of course that's always a matter of taste! Durability and sillage are convincing. The fragrance is definitely perceptible, but you shouldn't overdo it.
In conclusion, I really like wearing this fragrance this winter. It's sweet and fruity, but also has something tart about it. Very nice!

Younger brothers of Dior Homme Intense
In my opinion, Uomo Intense goes in the direction of Dior Homme Intense, but without the lipstick accord. I find the Dior more mature, but the Valentino a touch more masculine, which is also due to this light leather note. At the beginning, the Valentino is even slightly fruity, after which a clearly perceptible iris and light leather note remains. Leather but fortunately not too much. Longevity and sillage are really very good, you can easily perceive it for 8 hours, so be a little careful when dosing. It's perfect for winter evenings or occasions where you just want to smell sensual and seductive. But I would never wear it to the office, for example. All in all, it's a really great fragrance and definitely worth the price for me. Whether you prefer the Valentino or the Dior is really a matter of taste, but for me it's the Valentino.

Quite similar to Dior Homme Intense, but less floral, more leathery, a bit sweeter, and simpler overall.
