Every shot a hit
I don't know how Merchant of Venice is doing. I haven't come across one yet that I find horrible - on the contrary, I could actually buy almost any of them blindly and my wish list is growing.
I just had to see the notes of My Pearls and knew it could be a hit. But as it's available in the local Breuninger, I wanted to test it in advance and as my husband and I regularly have Lego perfume dates (so he buys Lego, I buy perfume as the foundation of our relationship), I was able to give it a good sniff.
At the time, I already had another fragrance in my hand that I definitely wanted to wear, so I wasn't actually planning to wear a second fragrance. But My Pearls was such a hit that I had to take it with me straight away.

Actually, the story is probably longer than what I have to say about the fragrance itself. My Pearls is the queen of grooming. It is powdery, creamy, a tiny bit fresh and just incredibly well-groomed. From start to finish, you don't get a build-up, but an incredibly pleasant cloud of fragrance that surrounds you the whole time. You might think there are enough body lotion fragrances in my collection, but this one is still different. It has a strength that I usually miss in such well-groomed fragrances. Don't get me wrong, it's not a breaker, but it lasts really well and it radiates really well. I'm often asked about it in a positive way (and I've only had it for two weeks), which usually doesn't happen with such delicate fragrances. It's not a candidate that annoys you, you just feel good and clean with My Pearls. It always works, whether summer or winter, no matter what the occasion. If you don't know what to wear, you can always reach for My Pearls. Stylish and elegant but without being old-fashioned, in fact somehow with a modern twist. That is probably the great art of My Pearls, pimping up an "oldschool" perfume in such a way that it becomes timeless and ageless.

As always with Merchant of Venice, I find the price-performance ratio outstanding. Still my favorite combination of packaging and the bottles made of this wonderful glass.
I don't know how many times I opened and closed this packaging before I took out the bottle. But I am also simply a victim of aesthetics and something like this makes me whoop with joy.
An absolute recommendation for all those who are still looking for a well-groomed evergreen.

3 associations & 1 wow effect
It's strange, but this is the only fragrance where I actually have three completely different associations at the same time. And both at the same time and equally next to each other.
Firstly: over-ideal. Otherworldly. Not of this world.
Secondly: Totaaaaally feminine, it couldn't be more feminine, and it's also spotless and clean and as good as new!!!
Thirdly: motorcycling. - The power of the first memory is responsible for this third association. Nothing imprints you on a fragrance like that first memory you associate with it: The first time I wore My Pearls for a trial, I was riding through the woods around Warburg afterwards in the summer heat under a white-gray, almost foggy sky.
Because of the heat, I didn't have a jacket over my Louis Exo skeleton, and as I was so contemplatively twitching over a particularly hazy, particularly high hilltop - almost slower even than walking pace, because I was alone on the road the whole time anyway, and because I wanted to take in this whole "troll mood", this strange hazy, summery foggy day, the moment and the view - I suddenly smell my sprayed wrist from one side and the meadow on the steep slope, strangely invisible under the foggy air, from the other.
... And realize: For reasons I don't understand, it's the same smell twice!
No shit, that's exactly how I smelled it. Both the same scent. Of course, firstly, I was blown away, and secondly, I will never forget this strange memory of a foggy but warm summer afternoon. - What's more, I had the famous wow effect the first time I smelled it in the (Warburg) store (and now, of course, every time I smell it again). Strangely enough, this is now one of my winter fragrances of all things - but I think I'll wear it (again) in summer - whenever I want to be a particularly fine lady ^^

Neat Venetian woman
When I smell this fragrance, I am catapulted directly back to one of the many small vaporetto stations in Venice. Especially there they caught my eye: the really ALWAYS extremely well-groomed and stylishly Italian dressed Venetian women. Yes, they exist and you can see them. I had not expected before my first visit, that you meet so many locals in the lagoon city. And what was also always impressive: they all smelled heavenly. It was not always the exact same scent that I perceived, but yet it always gave a similar impression.
"My Pearls" dresses a typically fashionable Venetian woman, who celebrates her femininity and exudes self-confidence with simultaneous softness.
The fragrance makes on me the impression of a very high-quality cream that leaves a feeling of cleanliness. Clearly perceptible are the white flowers and a great rose, which seems to me creamy fresh and very subtle. A hint of currant wafts at you as well. But not such a heavy, sweet sticky one, but actually more of an inkling of what will become such a berry in the future; a bud, in fact. The violet also knocks softly.
"My Pearls" smells clean, without exhausting itself in the impression of a soap. It is floral-creamy-lightly woody and perhaps enchants us all into a well-groomed Venetian.

"Casta Diva" - "La Divina"
The dream sequence of the video for "My Pearls" is underlaid with Maria Callas' voice; she sings "Casta Diva": t h e aria from Vincenzo Bellini's opera "Norma".
We dream ourselves to these divine tones through high tasteful rooms and salons of the Gran Teatro La Fenice, to the edge of the stage. The view falls from there on the red-velvet seated oval, closed by several rows of red-gold state boxes - what a view!
Goosebumps pure!
The white flacon of the glassblowers from Murano is a silent companion, which always comes to the indulgent use; the refined noble night robe underlines the feeling of floating.

To this fragrant tribute, dedicated to the "Gran Teatro La Fenice" and "La Divina", "The Merchant of Venice" chose the luxury of white flowers.
The virtuous white - the chaste goddess who regularly prays and worships in her temple.
"Casta Diva", this aria belongs to Maria Callas; only she has this brilliance and this slight sharpness in her voice; every note roughens the skin with this special nuance, drives shivers of emotion over the body.
But how does this get along?
"Casta Diva" the chaste goddess: should she not sound rather delicate, pure and sweet?
"La Divina" cannot: and - a chaste, virginal woman is brittle, not very supple; she only becomes warm and passionate when she loses this chaste shell through love: she blossoms!
Even pearls, for all their beauty, must first become warm to the skin before they attain their incomparable luster, which makes them so unique

Let's see how this interplay of impressions is presented on this scented theater stage, which we simply call skin. ("Pelle", the Italian equivalent would be too prosaic!)
But the first thing we encounter here - and we are, after all, still in the Grand Teatro La Fenice - is "La Traviata": Violetta, the violet who has lost her way.
But it seems quite lively and so it also immediately peeks under lowered eyelashes after the mysterious aroma of the buds of black currants, which here are an interesting substitute for black pepper and are therefore also accompanied by pink peppercorns.
And already begins the interplay of different fragrances that achieve the same aroma goal. Why black pepper, if it also do currant buds?
The hue of pink pepper is slightly reminiscent of the color of the night robe, which recently floated over the stage in the dream sequence.
(I confess: when not everything obeyed the law of gravity and age, I loved these luxurious robes that celebrated sleep. - Tempi passati!)
So a spiced "Violetta" opens this fragrance, which is so not at all off the right track.
An enormous bouquet of white flowers is now presented; for the most part probably the beautiful fragrance lilies, the petals bent far back, so that the quietly vibrating stamens create additional charm and thus lavishly exude their fragrance in rich swaths.
Remotely, a synthetic lily of the valley is also spotted: it doesn't bother much.
But my feeling is that there is something else mixed in with the white flower blossoms:
I sense a hint of clove, a pinch of black pepper and even for a moment the strong herbaceous pungency of basil. Nice erotic kitchen herbs that bring sensuality to life.
So this fragrance creation for a goddess is already obviously floral, but also slightly spicy with a delicate green watery touch. (And not so innocent anymore!)
This pearly white floral fragrance beauty now gets sweetness: the tonka bean with its exotic aroma generously powders over the previous floral splendor and gives it romance and pearly melt; the shimmer of infatuation!
Like the pearls on the skin, now the fragrance has warmed up and presents its iridescent beauty.
A white uniform pearl band offers itself, but is still a bit too colorless, too well-behaved.
Spicy cedar wood ultimately brings depth, the oil of sandalwood erotic warmth and the two synthetic journeymen should probably find their counterparts in musk, amber and animalic scents.
The result is surprising, the fragrance does not lose.
These white pearls enclose with rich luster a slender woman's neck, bewitching and sensual fragrance.

"My Pearls" shines first in virginal luster, nestles tenderly and luxuriously to the skin and also remains there for several hours, without first changing greatly.
The real change of this fragrance takes place quietly in secret, during the time of wearing: virginal chastity and whiteness are replaced by the awakening of tender love.
And this smells now, even in its first discovery, spicy and mysterious.
This evolving sensuality carries "My Pearls" to the wedding of the fragrance.

For me, most of the fragrances in "The Merchant of Venice" Murano Collection are pure, unspoiled delight.
I know they are not spectacular, certainly have several siblings in fragrance.
Their flacons are jewels that I would prefer not to let go.
The fragrances known to me awakened in me longing for light and the irresistible magic of the lagoon city.

"Casta Diva - Chaste Goddess", this Bellini aria elevates "My Pearls".
Let's just hope that this divine fragrance does not have to wake up from his dream too soon.
After all, the "Chaste Goddess" Norma, High Priestess of the Druids is the mistress of the Roman governor Pollione and of course she is betrayed by him.
She, who sacrificed to him her chastity, considered so "divine", wants to take revenge.
It ends cruelly: love death at the stake!
Madness, ecstasy and beauty of bel canto total!

So we spray "My Pearls" once again at the end, before we bow deeply to "La Divina - Maria Callas".
Brava, bravissima and da capo: "Casta Diva"!
Da Capo "My Pearls"!

A slightly creamy floral old school scent, perfect for mature women or nostalgic souls.
