Falkar - no review? Let's make a change! I idea of the Brazilian forest realized as a dark oud musk fragrance!
I was surprised that the Le Gemme - Falkar has no review at all; in general, apart from the Le Gemme - Tygar, the rest of the Le Gemme range seems to get little attention. After testing the Le Gemme - Onekh - which was a little too synthetic, pungent for me (see review) - I'm now moving on to the Le Gemme - Falkar. Another dark oud fragrance from the Le Gemme collection, which is not intended to capture the Orient, but rather embodies the idea of the Brazilian forest. In this respect, the gemstone is designed to shimmer green.
What is the fragrance like?
- In contrast to Le Gemme - Onekh, the Falkar does not start out smoky and dark, but instead has a sweet freshness at the beginning, which probably comes from the saffron note added to the oud; opulent and strong!
- This is followed by a leathery accord which, together with the oud and yes, dark musk is the right word, the musk does not allow the fragrance to drift into a dark leathery oud scent, but the fragrance retains a light, light-fresh oud-leather-musk base. This base already smells very special and you won't find many fragrances that smell similar - even if it's not quite my thing; but that's exactly what makes the fragrance almost more wearable and versatile than Le Gemme - Onekh.
- This counter-contrast from the musk not only makes the fragrance more exciting, but somehow less appealing to me in the drydown; the longer the fragrance lingers on the skin, the more this "bright" oud-musk combination comes out, and in my view it then smells synthetic and unpleasant again, somehow inappropriate. Not bad, but kind of annoying for me; the light musk note with the oud and leather is creative yes, but at times it smells slightly "stale" to me for a long time, until it then recedes slightly in the final phase of the drydown and the oud-leather combo gains the upper hand again.
- The H/S of this fragrance, as with Le Gemme - Onekh, is simply top league, the fragrance lasts and projects really well and is definitely in the upper third
Overall, a solid fragrance that has character, but just doesn't match my preferences and again seems slightly synthetic, unfortunately.
