Is it still love or already addiction?
Tom Fords Oud Wood is not only the first perfume I've written a comment about, it's the reason I'm registered here, even the reason I'm even into perfumes.

One day I entered a perfumery unsuspectingly, tried myself through various scents until I got stuck with it. Already after the first sprayer a loud WOW was kidnapped. It's unbelievable. Best thing I ever smelled. Simply unbelievable. The price was even more incomprehensible for me as a student at that time, I would never spend so much money on a perfume. I sprayed myself with a strip and took it with me to be able to smell it again at least at home. At home I couldn't help but smell it all the time, even dreamt of the smell at night, woke up in the morning, got into the car like in a trance, drove into the perfumery, took the 100ml bottle from the shelf, went to the checkout, still in a trance put my card into the terminal, entered my code, and took the smell home. I haven't looked at my account since then.

I have to say that I had never been interested in perfumes before and had only ever ordered some well rated perfumes on Amazonia. But this scent knocked me over so much that I started to deal directly with perfumes, registered me on this page and meanwhile I sniffed my way through more than 30 bottlings only in the hope to be able to repeat this unique experience of a scent knocked over in such a way, this has unfortunately not happened until today yet. I think the scent was really love at first sniff. If it wasn't so expensive I wouldn't wear anything else.

What should I say about this unique fragrance? When I am sad he conjures a smile on my face, when I feel lonely I smell the scent and feel secure, when I have to face unpleasant situations he takes away my fear.

For me this fragrance is not only a 10/10, no it is also the reference for any other fragrance.

The final word I would like to address to you Tom: Thank you.

The way
My way home leads past a dark lake in the forest.
I love this peace and quiet and the soft smell of the trees Fog is coming in today,
mystically rests the lake in shimmering grey.
A noise
A shadow
I'm running cold down my spine,
the hairs of the neck stand up,
the heart's pounding.
Suddenly he stands before me...
almost unreal beautiful,
inaccessible,
his look full of gentleness, melancholy, sadness...
I feel the need to snuggle up to him but my body is frozen I see his gaze wandering over me,
dwelling on the pulse beat...
tilt the head to the side,
to offer him my neck His breath......
no, no breath... Electricity,
she seems to make the place tingle
and anesthetize her.
My body's getting heavy,
sinks to him...
his eyes,
so warm, so soft...
I'm going to hit the ground a warm touch of ambergris...
he turns away,
and bites into a rat in disgust...

Haha, of course the rat has no place here, but it is a key scene in the movie "Interview with a vampire", which I based my story on That's exactly what fascinates me about this fragrance, as it does about Louis in the film A disagreement
between good and evil,
Beauty and slight wickedness,
Distance and leaning,
Desire and restraint,
united to a wonderful complete work,
of so far unknown species.

At the Oudist beach, part 5: Fords O-model, 1. fresh 2. wood 3. cuddle
Exceptions (so far one: Mandarino di Amalfi) confirm the rule: Tom Ford fragrances don't grab me. Maybe unfair, maybe I just don't like them and smell them with a too critical attitude, maybe blind tests would give a different result, no idea. Anyway, this Oud Wood belonged here to the category "rule", not to "exception".

For me a technically neatly made, nice and well wearable fragrance with little enthusiasm potential. That's why my comment is sober, maybe even allowed to be:

Oud Wood seems to me to be a rather linear fragrance that is spanned between three poles:

The first is a very fresh, a little bit mucose-cleaning note that definitely lasts the entire scent arch for a long time. From the given notes cardamom and amber fits, but I'm pretty sure that there is more, citric, pepper and eucalyptus come into my mind. So some kind of generic universal multifresh.

The second corner of the triangle is marked by a rather dry woody-tart (but not spicy) note, which is absolutely plausible in the list of ingredients by rosewood, sandalwood and vetiver, and of course the oud also belongs here. I do, however, join those pre-reviewers who have noted that "Oud Wood" doesn't smell particularly oudous. Rather general, I would humbly say. There's no law that if it says "Oud" on it, there must be Oud in it. It's not orange juice.

And third, there's a cuddly, fluffy corner that's so fluffy that it can't actually be called a "corner". So it's more of a two-corner, where the third runner somehow consists of a round flokatite carpet. To this Tonka and Amber would fit.

As long as these three poles remain reasonably balanced, it works very well, but for my taste the fleece spreads over time and subjugates his two buddies according to the motto: "We are the Borg, they are assimilated". Although the freshness and the woodiness are still recognizable, at some point the dominant features are all too soft musk, sweet chocolate gourmand treats and a somewhat exhausting, suspicious dense and thick air, which, if I were to work at the Federal Office for Evaporation Protection, would cause the cashmere suspicion.

When I see that Oud Wood has almost 900 owners here despite its quite pronounced price, I am a little aghast, because in my opinion there are many more beautiful Oud fragrances. But of course, with our hobby (almost) everything is subjective, and I don't find this Holztom bad either. But number 301 on the watch list will be someone else than me.

The first step...
Just wow! That's what I thought when I sprayed this fragrance on my wrist for the first time in a perfumery. I've owned a few perfumes before, but I didn't really get to grips with them, especially not in this price range. I figured okay, that smells pretty good, and then I took it. But with Oud Wood it was quite different, I suddenly started to interpret so much into a fragrance. I felt very different from all the other fragrances I had ever worn.
Self-confident, expressive and according to the motto "here I am", that's how I feel with this fragrance. 2-3 sprayings were enough and the smell was like an aura around me, which didn't let me go anymore. In the first moment came a fresh kick that was by no means cheap and is maintained throughout. In the second act there is a dry wooden note and at the end it becomes very smooth and rounded. For me my absolute favorite fragrance, which also brought me into the world of fragrances and has devoured me since then. I never thought I'd ever write such a comment or even be registered on a page about perfume. For me fragrances were just a nice accessory that I used from time to time but Tom Ford opened the gates to a new world for me with this perfume and increased my interest in fragrances enormously so that my collection now continues to expand.

No love
I have this Oud Wood in my collection for 2-3 months already. I had to get it for myself, because I was so curious about this scent. A superstar in the fragrance community as you can see here. The rating here is bombastic. You can see the notes around 8.5 more often here, but with over 1000 ratings? Very difficult to create, because many things are simply a matter of taste. 2nd place in unisex perfumes. I had to test it. Because even samples of 2ml from the TF-Private-Line cost around 10 Euro I bought a small bottle of 30ml. Officially expensive, but 30ml is still available in some shops at humane prices. In case of emergency you will always find a buyer if you don't like it.

The bottle series is naturally iconic and simply elegant. When you look at these TF flacons, it's simply perfection and elegance, and it matches the price. This fragrance is available in 30,50,100 and even 250ml. It has signature potential for some and the 500 Euro would be worth it at 250ml.

My expectations were of course extremely high with these ratings. Also a superstar on Youtube. He must have something special about him. I am not the biggest oud fan, but I was very excited. I rarely wear oud in the leading role, but you should have a versatile collection.
I have to say: I was slightly disappointed on the first test. I thought to myself, "Is that an 8.7 scent? It wasn't love at first sight. With these high scores I expected a real crowdpleaser. It is pleasing, but would it necessarily be so well received by the masses? I'm not so sure about that. Not that it is decisive, but I expected something else.
After many tests I like it much better. It will probably not become a favourite, but it is not an eel-smooth scent and has many rough edges. Of course you get a lot of oud. A very oriental and woody scent with fine spices. The creation looks very stylish and noble. I see this fragrance more on people with a certain life experience. It appears mature, not very playful, clarified and simply noble. It is also rather less unisex for me. It's more masculine, but ladies can theoretically wear anything. Especially as a feel-good fragrance, you shouldn't let yourself be talked into anything anyway. The sex appeal of this fragrance is in my opinion within limits anyway.

The performance is criticized by many here. I find it in the middle range. But you can expect more from an oud fragrance in this price range. Oud is a note that performs in double figures in many fragrances. Not here. But it's not that bad. You get around 6 hours out, with good sillage in the beginning and later something about skin-tight.

All in all a great scent, but I find the Private-Line overpriced and the big spark has not jumped over with me. Nevertheless a great stylish alternative for everyday life.

An amazing sober, versatile Oud scent.
Good both for the office and a night out.
Its below average performance makes it a bit overpriced

Oud Wood is spicy, dry, woody and creamy. Elegant scent with a touch of sweetness. The performance is very weak.

Let's give credit where credit is due.

Perfect oud scent. Fresh spices, warm and dump woods. Groundbreaking and a classic from TF. Performance could be better. 4/5
