My first impression
About the fragrance

This fragrance really surprised me. It is a slightly soapy lavender scent that is reminiscent of a barbershop. With its 19% oil content, the fragrance remains light and airy. At least after the first spray, it doesn't seem like a particularly strong fragrance to me. The name "Killer Instinct" is not what I had in mind, but the description "men's fragrance for the office/business" still fits.

I hope that the fragrance performs well as I am used to this from Marc Gebauer and feel quite comfortable with it. But I suspect that this one will be the weakest of the bunch. Note: weakest doesn't always mean weak, especially with this brand. Nevertheless unusual.

The only comparisons I can think of right now are "Amber pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Prada" and "Silver Marble | Simone Andreoli". Silver Marble is perhaps a little closer, as Prada is already a powerhouse. But I also have to mention that I'm not very familiar with barbershop fragrances.

As I write these lines, "Killer Instinct | Marc Gebauer" is becoming increasingly woody and intense. It retains its soft lavender note. After my first 10 minutes with the fragrance, I am in a positive mood.

One day later
Unfortunately, I realized that the fragrance does not perform well. I wore about 15 sprays yesterday. After I went to the hairdresser, I only smelled the inexpensive Colognia, which was sprayed on me a few times. unfortunately, "Killer Instinct | Marc Gebauer" became completely invisible. That's a shame, especially because I otherwise really like the fragrance.

But it's also possible that I'm simply scent-blind with this fragrance. I also have that with "Baccarat Rouge 540 (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" or "Layton | Parfums de Marly", for example. I simply can't smell them, even though they are very strong. This is a very unusual assumption, but I find it even harder to imagine that Marc Gebauer would release a fragrance called KILLER INSTINCT that is only perceptible for 1 hour.

Two days later
Unfortunately, I could not perceive any improvement. In the meantime, some statements and reviews have already been received on Parfum. Without wanting to sound derogatory, I suspect that these are "fanboys". Unfortunately, the performance is really bad. I showed the fragrance to two friends and they had the same impression.

To the axe

As it was of course a gift, I won't be critical but simply give my observations neutrally. First of all, it is really big and the head weighs 1.6 kg. So it's quite a massive piece. The wall bracket seems sturdy, but I would still be afraid to hang it up. If it were to fall down, it would definitely break the floor. This thing is a killer instrument Wink

Unfortunately, my copy has the problem that the letters simply peel off and fall off. That's a shame, of course, and doesn't help the impression of quality.

Rock star with a few dents
So, Creed Aventus. Where do I start? This fragrance isn't just any fragrance, it's like a rock star in the fragrance world. It has practically created its own fragrance category. At least that way I can excuse the countless dupes ;-)

What's inside:
We're talking about a combination of smoky pineapple and woody notes. Sounds unusual at first, but somehow it just works. It's as if someone thought: "Let's try something crazy", and the result is brilliant. This characteristic combination of smoky, woody notes and the fresh fruitiness of pineapple gives it a masculine and powerful aura.

The famous (or infamous) "Pantydropper" thing:
Honestly, all the hype about Aventus being a "pantydropper" is a bit overblown. Sure, it's a great fragrance and attracts attention, but it's not like everyone is suddenly melting away by the dozen. It's more like wearing a really good suit - you feel great, but it's not the suit alone that makes the difference.

Also, it's not necessarily sexy to smell like every third person...

Performance:
This is where it gets a little tricky. Over the years, the longevity has diminished in my opinion. The fragrance used to be a fortress that lasted for hours, but today it seems somehow watered down. The scent is still there, but not as powerful and present as it used to be. The sillage is still considerable, but it has also lost some of its former strength. Aventus still leaves a trace, but it has become more subtle and restrained. Of course, it could be that I simply no longer perceive the fragrance as strongly because I have smelled it so often.

Conclusion:
Creed Aventus is probably (not) a statement fragrance. It has really shaken up the perfume world and will probably continue to be a talking point. Whether it really is a "pantydropper" or not - it remains a fragrance that makes an impression and is memorable.
