A successful experiment
I don't have as much experience as some people here, but I would still like to share my experiences with Bangkok Shock.
Never before has a fragrance with such a deliberate association caught me like this one. According to Herbert Stricker, the intention was to start the scents in Bangkok and its markets. Personally, I have never been to Bangkok, but the first second after the first spray, the intended association was understandable.
I associate the fragrance with a scent that you would also find in an Asian grocery and general store in Germany. A fermented orange note is very present and recedes somewhat in the drydown. The fragrance becomes a little more pleasing towards the end and seems less experimental than fresh after application. I can understand the plastic note that is often described. However, plastic per se is quite odorless. It's more like a cheap plastic toy from the Far East, which you can also find in local Asian general stores.
I have to say that the fragrance is special but pleasant and really fun for the wearer because it is so special. It's not for every day, but it does find its way onto my skin from time to time. I find the fragrance somehow more suitable in summer than in winter. The sillage is very pronounced and people often talk about the fragrance.
