Whisky and leather...and the rose ties them together
The Whiskey Rose was the last fragrance I tried from the Savoir Faire sample set. I wasn't expecting much. I was much more excited for Soul Café and Beau Noir, which did not disappoint, but I had no idea I had unwittingly saved the best for last.
I was expecting a fragrance based around the rose note, with some hints of whisky and leather, and would most likely be overly sweet and powdery. But this is a properly boozy fragrance with a heady saffron-cypriol-leather backbone. Think Replica - Jazz Club meets Ombré Leather (2018) Eau de Parfum. The rose acts as a modifier note here, to make sure the sharp edges of the leather and booze don't overwhelm. The drydown is a nice woody-vanilla.
Every one of Savoir Faire's perfumes have been absolute hits in my book, but The Whiskey Rose takes the cake. Fantastic idea and great execution. Mr. Chris Classic, take a bow.
