Actually, a better, nobler, more sensual version of "The Gentleman."
At first I thought after spraying on: "Well tol, copy of D&G..." I think it's okay, the fragrance is stylistically interesting, but not intoxicating; for me the "gentleman" seems a bit too striking and loud in his style.

No, but with a bit of patience the "Jazz Club" shows that after a start on the same starting line, it will soon be qualitatively and aromatically hurrying away and setting other accents.

It is quite a warm, even slightly sultry fragrance; in this respect the name fits perfectly. Hot danced and swinging, many people in a small space, slightly ecstatic.

Rum, sage, tobacco, vanilla - these 4 cornerstones determine the aromatic events - rather something for the cooler days and evenings. The aromas are well interwoven, sensual, warming, somewhat sweet and wafting, but without losing themselves in stickiness.
The sage, on the other hand, has a somewhat herb-etheric background, the tobacco is sun-golden and the rum and vanilla add very sensual, cuddly nuances.

In fact, this is a reason for any D&G fans to become unfaithful. This fragrance can see its price anyway.

Imitation leather, non-smoking protection and exotic drinks
Fortunately, in the package that "By the Fireplace" came with, there was also a sample of this fragrance here: "Jazz Club". After "By the Fireplace" had already moved me to a comment due to its uniqueness, I would now like to make an attempt herewith to familiarize the inclined reader a bit with "Jazz Club". So let's get to it.

Basically, the concept of Maison Margiela's "Replica" line aims to transport the fragrance wearer and those around him to certain places or to make him think of certain activities based on fragrance. What these are in detail - as well as other details about the fragrance - can be seen on the label, which in my opinion is very stylish and made of fabric. This concept finds by the way analogously also with parts of the clothing articles application, which are brought by the house on the market.

Let's see whether the perfumer Aliénor Massenet has succeeded in meeting the self-imposed claim.

First of all, the journey should take us back to the year 2013, and specifically to the Jazz Club Brooklyn. This is to succeed in the fragrance especially by the fact that it brings up associations with intoxicating cocktails and cigars.

"Jazz Club" opens its olfactory fireworks at medium volume with a vanilla sweetness, paired in equal parts with a very pleasant rum note. Patchouli and vetiver flit inconspicuously through the fragrance picture, which is altogether by a finely perceptible coconut touch reminiscent of an exotic drink, but without being really "boozy". So does "Jazz Club" reflect the smell - no, the scent - of intoxicating cocktails? Absolutely yes, because this is emphatically not about whiskey neat, but about - that's right - cocktails.

Let us now turn to the cigars. And exactly at this point there is a special feature: the perfumer was so prudent to take into account the in 2013 already, fortunately, firmly established non-smoker protection. The smoking visitor of the Jazz Club Brooklyn does not pursue his vice at the table, but rather goes to the door, where a few noble ashtrays and, in the colder seasons, a heater await him. When he returns to his table afterwards, he draws a light veil of scent, which can then be perceived very discreetly by the other guests. However: In the smokers' corner, the guests do not smoke a few roll-your-own cigarettes with tobacco from the corner discounter. Rather, the guests puff the finest cigars from the best growing areas.

Only for the sake of completeness it should be mentioned here that also the smell of the leather of the seating, which is usual for clubs, is found again. And indeed, the styrax resin finely woven into the fragrance picture actually provides a very discreet, decidedly balsamic leather note, which in particular, however, rather reminds of artificial than real leather. This, however, is expressly not to be understood as a negative connotation - quite the opposite.

The fragrance goes linearly into the drydown, where it then becomes much quieter. Here, however, it should be noted that he is in individual cases for the wearer after one to two hours barely perceptible and rather seems close to the skin, but for people in the immediate vicinity loosely-fluffy still six to seven hours can be well noticed, until he finally actually becomes close to the skin.

Of course, I would also like to take up the sporadically brought to the speech similarity to other known fragrances. Quite clearly are from my point of view similarities with Dolce & Gabbana's "The One". To make "Jazz Club" come across exactly like "The One", you would basically have to subtract rum and vanilla and add a few spices; however, the similarity is already quite noticeable without interfering with the scent. Parfums de Marly's "Herod" is much further away. Here would then be to remove only the rum note; however, the fragrances are per sé comparatively much further apart.

Ultimately, "Jazz Club" is a tendency gourmandiger fragrance, which can be worn except for the very hot days quite the whole year; gladly during the day, but especially in the evening hours, but never occasion-bound. The label says that it is a masculine fragrance. Personally, I can imagine that this classification was the result of an internal company vote in which "male" won out over "unisex" by one vote. To my mind, "Jazz Club" is equally wearable by both genders.

I for my part have in the meantime ordered one of the fancy apothecary bottles and am sure that I will wear the fragrance often and with pleasure. Test it should be in any case!

Thank you for reading!

"And the shark that's got teeth"
For a long time I wanted to write my first comment on EssenceVitae, even if I don't want to call myself the best fragrance critic. I can't remain silent about Replica Jazz Club, because this fragrance enchanted me from the very first spray. I have never found the name of the perfume more fitting for any other fragrance. So the attempt of a fragrance description:

Jazz club is sexy, jazz club is attractive. The scent has something exotic for me, too, so I think I smell coconut. Maybe my nose is fooling me. As for fragrances, I'm no expert at all. I mean smelling the rum. The shelf life is good and can withstand a complete evening, I would say 6-7 hours. The Sillage is also good in the first 2-3 hours and you are noticed. Later the scent sits down and accompanies you very closely. But durability and Sillage are also always an individual thing. Even the next day I notice Jazz Club on my jacket collar.

If you spray it on, you really feel transported to the jazz clubs of New Orleans. For me it is my scent of the theatre in which I work as a musician. Recently at the dress rehearsal for Brecht's Threepenny Opera: "So after the summer break I come back to the theatre, past the orchestra and singer's dressing rooms, straight to the big house on stage. Every stage has its own smell and every stage smells different, can hardly be described. So I build my instrument and I wear jazz club. In this ambience, the fragrance comes into its own so well, it simply fits perfectly, no - it is perfect and made for it. Made for a jazz club, but also the theatre has the atmosphere of a wicked jazz club this evening. At the latest when we play the Pirate Jenni or the Canon Song, because Weill's music, which he wrote for the Threepenny Opera, also has elements from jazz.

I must say, with this scent I feel unbeatable, self-confident and perfect - the right conditions to deliver on stage.
Was the fragrance perhaps conceived for musicians of a jazz club? Anyway, he fits like no other. Despite everything, it also goes well with other situations and you can also wear the scent well during the day. In the evening it is only more beautiful and unfolds all its charm.

Dark and admonishing, it lies in the rehearsal room waiting to be opened, her bass case.
She knew she had to practice, exercise her fingers, not get rusty, develop calluses.
But what was the point anyway?
Playing with the others, sharing, the process of creating music together, she missed it, she missed it so much....
Reluctantly, she let the buckles of the suitcase snap open and opened the leather lid.
She inhaled the leather scent, interspersed with the smell of the cigars the band puffed after successful gigs.
How long had it been? It seemed like forever to her.
Resting her head against the neck of the double bass, she played the first low note with the bow in a long time.
And immediately it set in, that calm in the minor,
made her close her eyes and breathe more deeply.
Accompanied by more low tones, she dreamed herself into dark clubs with candlelight and music and cocktails and revelry.
It will be like that again, she could feel it
and still play half the night.

Perfectly informed you will be about this fragrance a floor below, in Scentbubbles commentary.
Which couldn't be more eloquent, so I won't even try.

Pina Colada Feeling
Maison Margiela. A great brand which you can count to the niche but the prices are fair through and through and somewhat more expensive than designers. This year I took By the fireplace and tested more good scents with this, Music Festival and the women's scent Lipstick on. Very high quality and good performances and my test by this brand will certainly continue.
Last year I ordered a small bottle of this fragrance. Also because this fragrance concept already fits into my baggage scheme. I like sweet-spicy scents very much and also the name Jazz Club, very appealing. Pyramid also sounds like nightlife, especially with tobacco, rum and vanilla. I was excited and not disappointed. Still, I expected him to be a little different than I got.

The Replica range has great flacons with this old school typewriter-look fabric label. Top and very noble. By the fireplace I stood here and that looks very noble. It does not have a lid, but it makes a powerful impression.
I was expecting a rather heavy scent. Winter, crisp cold and rather warming and for the nightlife. I got a tropical pina colada coconut scent. I have to say: You can wear it even at warmer temperatures. This coconut rum vibe is fun and great for beach parties, warm summer evenings and nightlife. Even though it is wearable at colder temperatures, I see it totally in the Tropical direction. I don't see much of the pyramid. A coconut-like note, a boozy rum note, vanilla and a pleasant tobacco note, which fortunately does not appear musty. In addition, there are fresh notes which keep this fragrance pleasant. I don't notice a lot of progress either, which doesn't bother here either. Very reminiscent of a Pina Colada, which comes across high quality and not trashy. Great done and great for fans of tropical cocktails. If jazz would come to my mind at all costs. I don't think so.
Performance is pleasant with good Sillage. Can be worn in the evening or in the nightlife. Since it is less penetrating even in leisure time and in everyday life. But because of the rum it is more suitable for the evening and nightly leisure time. Even though the vast majority don't look at him for warmer days: For me, it's warm days. Especially when the evening sun comes and the great heat disappears.

All in all, a great fragrance for me that convinces me. Not at the top of my wish list, but worth a purchase. Prices are fair and he's worth the money.

Jazz Club reminds me of Malibu rum, a coconut liqueur, boozy and creamy. The combination with smoke and tobacco makes the scent unpleasant.

Rum and tobacco on top of an intense sweetness. Might be too sweet for some and a little overpriced, but smells awesome in the air

Most Margiela scents tend to get the evocative side spot on. This one is pleasant enough but I couldn't even find the door to the Jazz Club.
