A descent into mythical, dark depths
Hach Black Orchid. I still remember very well that I really wanted a Tom Ford fragrance, liked the scents and thought to myself: "You're buying this thing now. Blind buy? never mind, expensive? Never mind!" :D
I've owned it for quite a while now and literally guard it like the Holy Grail in person. I really only use it on special occasions.
Let's spray this piece of jewelry on. Uhh ok, I smell floral notes, dark, mysterious. Earthy, perhaps slightly animalic notes, that could be the truffle. At least that's how I remember truffles from my cooking training back in the day. A slight sweetness can be detected. However, the notes don't seem out of place, the fragrance certainly doesn't take you by the hand, an invitation into the unknown depths of the night.
In the drydown, the fragrance becomes warmer, more comforting and pleasurable. The floral notes of the opening remain, wood joins in, inviting you to linger. Very light smoky notes frame the mythical image that the fragrance creates here.
Towards the end, the fragrance ends on a beautifully woody, almost musky note.
Thank you Black Orchid for this journey. I would love to take part again! :D
