State of the art
I am becoming increasingly fascinated by gourmand fragrances. The choice is huge and can quickly overwhelm you! At first I was looking for something special and unusual and came across Gritti - Duchessa. I went straight to the souk and ordered a sample. Full of anticipation and euphoria, I jumped on it and was quickly disillusioned. Too bad (review available). So the search continued. Relatively quickly I came across the perfumes from Swiss Arabian. Another oriental offshoot with heavy sweetness in oud garb? No, apparently not ...
The price alone is an argument in itself and prompted me to make a blind buy. Then you sit at home and think about your purchase decision, okay, it wasn't that expensive, but is it still worth it? I just took my chances. The next day, the parcel carrier was at the door.
Of course, I unpacked the perfume again full of anticipation and euphoria. First impressions of the packaging and bottle were thoroughly positive. Can you now also convince with inner values or should you just look chic in the wardrobe?
Bravely pulled out the test strips and off we went...
Wow! The roasted almond hits you gently but firmly in the face. After the strong opening, reinforcement comes from the heart. A light rose resonates, rounded off with a hint of cinnamon and a pinch of orange and is neither feminine nor masculine.
The base soon makes its presence felt with a really beautiful vanilla note, mixed with a little tonka bean. The vanilla doesn't seem synthetic to me at all and that alone must be seen as a big plus point! Later on, when the top note has completed its great work, there is a very soft and definite twist that rounds off the whole fragrance nicely and makes it very gourmand! You could classify it as a warm, subtle vanilla with slightly roasted almonds.

Fantastic! Now the world out there needs to know about it too.
So two discreet, I emphasize again, DECENT sprays in the neck area and shortly afterwards out on the street. I could smell the fragrance on myself for hours in all weathers. A few hours later, I was in the car again and turned the interior into a bakery. H/S simply unbelievable! Does it ever get annoying? No! Because it doesn't smell artificial or synthetic, nor does one note totally dominate - that's what makes it so pleasing in my opinion.

So, now I'm seriously wondering how an approx. 60 EUR perfume can deliver like this, while the "big ones" a'la PDM and Co are increasingly only selling us blanks. I wish this would become fashionable, state of the art - gaining large market shares to show the big players that this is how it's done these days!

A fragrance that enchants
... or my most beautiful fragrance surprise this year.

For me as a self-confessed Tonka lover, the name and the fragrance pyramid alone were music to my ears and so, so much hope for my nose - and the fragrance completely exceeded my personal expectations.

For me, tonka bean as a perfume ingredient combines warmth, seduction and well-being. It is vanilla-like, creamy, yet slightly spicy, making it unisex for me. Eternal sensuality and luxury. It lends a fragrance sophistication and depth, and at the same time timeless elegance.
This is exactly what my sacred Tonka does in this fragrance.
Overall, I find the fragrance incredibly warm, creamy, pleasant and gently floral, finely interwoven and perfectly balanced. Rather feminine, I am surrounded throughout the day by a delicately powdery-sweet cloud of tonka, vanilla, flowers and subtle spice. Oud is not perceptible at all.

Since the comparison came up: I actually get Velvet Tonka vibes too, although I find the Shaghaf Oud Tonka sweeter and, as mentioned, more feminine. No tobacco, but for me more gourmand with almond and vanilla. A little more floral.

Longevity and sillage are above average. I wear it on clothes for days, on my skin for a good 8-10 hours.
One of the few fragrances that I had to have in large format immediately after bottling.
For me, it definitely has the potential to become my new signature..

The turquoise Hypebeast (BDK Velvet Tonka Dupe)
The hype around Shaghaf Oud Tonka continues.
You currently have to pay up to €130 to secure a bottle.
Way too much for a dupe.
That's why I've only bought one bottle so far.

Shaghaf Oud Tonka is a clone of Velvet Tonka and a very good one at that, with a great performance.

As we know it from the original, Shaghaf is also a marzipan/almond dream.
And the almond note is not long in coming.
From the first spray, you get a full load of almonds.
Anyone who knows almond syrup knows roughly what the opening smells like.
In fact, I hardly notice anything else in the first few moments.

Only in the DD do floral notes join in, I would claim to perceive jasmine.
According to the fragrance pyramid, however, it is orange blossom.
This gives the fragrance a touch of femininity and provides a clean vibe.
This also keeps the fragrance from being too sweet.
Nevertheless, it is quite a sweet fragrance, so you should keep that in mind.
EssenceVitae "Abuparfüm" wrote here that the fragrance smells like marzipan soap to him.
That actually sums it up quite well.
However, the floral notes are not in the foreground, which is important to mention.
The main player here is the almond note, it steals the show.

Later in the DD, I also detect subtle vanilla and a little more tonka bean.
Cinnamon and amberwood, on the other hand, are not at all prominent for me.

Towards the end, it is a slightly powdery almond, tonka dream with a subtle clean touch in the background, created by the floral notes.

The performance is outstanding.
The Shaghaf Oud Eau de Parfum is still the undisputed number 1 in the Shaghaf Oud range in terms of performance.
Nevertheless, Shaghaf Oud Tonka has nothing to hide with its performance.
With a super strong radiance and top durability, the turquoise knows how to convince.

What I would also like to note is that I find the perfume quite feminine, as already mentioned above.
Nevertheless, I really like wearing it and find the fragrance very pleasant.
Because it is not a fragrance where you say it is ONLY for women like La Vie est Belle L'Eau de Parfum or My Way.
For many, the fragrance is certainly still unisex.
But for me, the fragrance is quite feminine.

My conclusion: Although Swiss Arabian has done a good job here and brought a perfume with niche quality onto the market, I would still wait until the price drops.
For 50 € you can buy it without hesitation.
When I consider that my first Shaghaf cost €13.99 about 6-7 years ago, even €50 is no bargain.
Still, it's fair for the quality you get here.
Many paid €69.99 and are super satisfied.
However, I would not recommend a blind purchase for the price.
It's better to get a bottle first and then decide.
I like it myself and am looking forward to adding it to my collection soon, so I can only recommend it if the price is right.

Tonka Almond Dream
Delicious

Fragrance impression:
You can also get this fragrance at Willy Wonka. It smells sweet and like almonds. I think it has some note that I can't describe that makes it a little bit better than the Velvet Tonka.

Longevity/sillage:
For me, it is present all day, but is not too strong. Fragrance is clearly perceived.

Scent direction:
sweet, gourmand

Target group: unisex, for all those looking for something exceptionally warm

Compliment catcher: 100%

An oriental almond dream to melt in your mouth
If you love the aroma of almond and tonka, you've come to the right place! Swiss Arabian has once again outdone itself with the Shaghaf Oud Tonka.
I was a little worried at the beginning that it would be too marzipan-y for me, but that's not the case. The almond in the top note is there and very present, but very quickly the fragrance develops in a soft, floral direction with lots of creamy tonka.
The individual components are harmoniously chosen and quickly become one with each other.

For me, Shaghaf Oud Tonka represents beauty and femininity. It lies snugly against the skin and then unfolds its full splendor. You can only love it.

I can feel it on my skin all day long and on my clothes even longer. So H/S has once again been absolutely outdone. The Shaghaf Oud Tonka is a suitable all-rounder for everyday wear, but also a suitable companion for special occasions. Even though I find the fragrance very suitable for winter, it can also be worn at other times of the year.

With such a gem, you can't help but buy the large format.

Starkes P/L Verhältnis. Könnte mit Sicherheit das 2 oder 3 Fache kosten.
Ist nicht für jeder Mann/Frau denke ich. Auf jeden Fall Unisex!

Lovely fragrance, but the name is misleading : there is no oud present. The only notes I pick up are tonka and almond. Not complaining!
