Oud Oud Rose Vanilla
Dead of Night is one of my favorite scents. From the opening, I immediately recognize the oud accord. I think it's a combination of different ouds. I can recognize the Cambodian / Thai ouds with their sweet resinous character, but there is also a woody and somewhat smoky character that after some research I found to be Borneo oud. There is a leathery note but I don't think it comes from the oud, but perhaps the perfumer used a trace amount of birch tar to add a smoky effect that I perceive as leather. In the opening, the oud is accompanied by a green-ozone violet leaf note and a citrus note that I couldn't distinguish. Upon opening, the scent becomes sweeter and more resinous with a rose note joining the oud. Unlike the usual rose ouds where you get a prominent rose accord with oud in the background, here the oud shines and the rose plays the supporting role. I could not distinguish the type of rose used in this fragrance . I could not make out the floral notes separately. The base is all about the creamy sandalwood with a sweet labdanum / vanilla combination along with the rose oud combination. Overall, Dead of Night is not the most original fragrance but it is very well blended with very high quality ingredients.

You left me speechless...
Hello everyone,

i would like to say something about deadofnight Eau de Parfum.

I did not know the brand, have never read or heard of the fragrance and did not know the fragrance pyramid = in my opinion, there is no better way to be unbiased.

Before I sprayed it on, I still wanted to know what I was going to spray on myself. Very quickly I knew Rose - Oud and my enthusiasm was... let's be honest, very modest. I've smelled about 100 rose oud fragrances since I've been dealing with the subject (for many years) and I'll be honest, maybe 10 have really appealed to me... because very often it's "copy and paste" and nothing new and this bores you very much
We always have a quite present rose (fruity, or soft floral) and wood (mostly synthetic) and but in most fragrances it is only very soft in the background...

Then we come to the spraying..., wait a few seconds, then sniff....

WTF...., what's kos here?

One thing is certain = you are different, different from the everyday and different from what you know (ALD and EO are in a different league of their own).

YES there is real oud in it, whether a lot or a little I don't know, only it is noticeable that there is something evil in it and that is exactly the point! Otherwise, the rose takes center stage and plays with the other fragrance notes. Here it is noticeably different and I find that alone MEGA EXCITING.

NASTY + dark wood, similar to guaiac wood and the "wild ride" begins and yes, it plays with the rose and a little with the amber = very nice!
I like the drydown even more!

The oud is still there, but becomes tamer and a little smokier, but then the sandalwood and musk are added and it becomes pleasantly creamy and there is also the vanilla.

Absolutely MEGA!

Top note an 8 - 9
and the base a 9 - 10

H/S is at least 9's range with at least 11h!
A very nice chance meeting and a great acquaintance - I'll keep an eye on you!
He's definitely worth a test!

And now have a nice day/evening, or whatever you read this review, LG the Benny

Stunning
This scent is elegant in a natural, ethereal sort of way. To me it feels like playing a piano on a summer evening, lacquered wood, ebony keys, with soft rose and heady white flowers coming in on the breeze through a window.

The opening of this on me is definitely funky (it has a subtle wet woodchip + manure pile smell), but it slowly blooms into a gorgeous woody floral. The rose gives it subtle freshness, there’s some narcotic/heady white flowers, and a rich elegant woody base. The oud in this reminds me strongly of ebony wood. Everything in this scent feels like it came from the natural world. It’s just beautiful.

One of the best fragrances of its kind

Composition repeated many times, but for me this work is among the best, made by a master perfumer that I love Christphe Laudamiel

They are three ouds, Borneo, Cambodja and Thailand masterfully mixed, with a heart of rose and white flowers, all this holding with a wonderful sandalwood scent, making it a sexy and playful scent.

Excessively high price, it is a good reason to try before you buy, it will surely be one of the fragrances without middle ground that you love or hate.

deadofnight, or it is always darkest before dawn
I wanted to try it for too long. Finally, last month, I bought a sample set of the house, and I was over the moon at least having a chance to get my nose on it.

I have to tell you, I loved every single perfume from the collection. All of them are very unique, deep, creative, and take me to places. That is why I want to tell you about them separately.

deadofnight was my first sniff, and it proved to me one more time: never test perfumes on the paper. I know we don’t have enough skin to try many fragrances on at once, but the blotters may ruin the scent for you forever.

I tested this perfume on paper, and it was super oudy animalic. And it stayed on the paper this way. I usually like oud, but this one, I thought, will be too challenging for me to wear. So I was dragging my feet preparing for full wear.

And I am so happy I finally sprayed it on myself.

Yes, the opening is a little challenging. Strong, dark oud bites and stuns. But it takes just a few minutes until it becomes softer as if I trained it. I start smelling light flowers, as if in the early morning when they are still wet from the dew.

I know that dead of night is midnight, but to me, this scent is mostly about the minutes before dawn. They say that it is always darkest before dawn, right? And so, the perfume opens in a very dark way. And then it gets brighter and brighter, as the dawn breaks.

The base is about stunning vanilla with some musk and incenses. There are amber and sandalwood listed as well but I don’t pick them much. Of course, the oud leaves its traces here and there, as long as the scent is alive on my skin. But it is not so angry, and not so challenging as I first thought.

More floral-ambernilla than rose-oud to me. Luxurious florals, memorable oud. Lovely!

The price being on par with ultraniche makes me raise an eyebrow, but the bright fruity rose here is amazing.

DON is stellar, but the oud has been slightly over-softened. Performance is also just average, unfortunately. This should be a powerhouse.

Punchy violet, sour oud, and airy rose form a surprisingly transparent, nondescript, animalic musk scent atop a woody amber base.
