A nutty, tart disappointment
Having recently found my way into gourmand fragrances, I wanted to follow up Angels' Share and "Une Nuit à Oman - Sugar Leather | Une Nuit Nomade" with another test in a similar vein. The price of Zaya is a little higher than the aforementioned fragrances, so the bar is a little higher.

A pleasure at the start. A start of pleasant sweetness, followed by a really wonderful nutty note, embedded in honey and a slightly alcoholic touch. Have we found the top of the class here, which skillfully caresses the nose? The answer becomes clear on the jump: no. Because in terms of performance, this really is a moderate disaster. Less than an hour after application, the fragrance has vanished from the face of the earth; even on hair and clothing - normally good transporters - the DNA can only be guessed at. And apparently I'm not an isolated case (see similar reviews), which is ultimately a huge contra-argument regarding a purchase and vehemently drives me into the arms of the fragrances I mentioned at the beginning. Too bad.

A really beautiful fragrance!
Thank you dear Alex for the Zaya bottle :-) This is a really great, gourmand-sweet fragrance that is somewhere between the Angels' Share and the Khamrah. The longevity is great at around 12 hours and the sillage is also successful so far.

The top note starts off sweet and decidedly gourmand with cognac, brown rum, oak barrel aromas, nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, ripe apples, Amarena cherries, brandy beans, cloves, hazelnut and a little mountain moth. A somewhat disturbing note briefly resonates in the background, reminding me of earth and roots. The heart note remains sweet and gourmand with dark chocolate, dates, creamy hints of tonka beans and balsamic nuances of amber. Unsurprisingly, this sweet oriental journey continues in the base. Bourbon vanilla, pralines, benzoin, bitter almonds and sandalwood should be mentioned here.

I am really taken with this fragrance, but due to cheaper alternatives, I will probably put off buying a bottle for the time being.

Angels Share Vibes, but still different
The Zaya by Parfums d'Elmar is often compared to the Angels Share by Kilian and yes, I understand these comments.
Both fragrances are similar.
They are oriental, sweet, pleasantly spicy, have a nice cognac twist and fit perfectly into the cold days of the year.

The difference for me is that I find the Zaya a little less sweet, the cognac note is a little more intense in my opinion, the cinnamon is not quite as intense and it generally seems a little "drier" and "tart".

At the beginning we have the cognac note, which is kept in check by the honey, the cinnamon, the subtle apple, the tonka bean and other sweet accents It is therefore by no means strongly alcoholic or even pungent.
Over time, it becomes spicier, "drier", but also sweeter.
Towards the end, the sandalwood also makes it creamier.

Zaya is a beautiful gourmand that knows how to please and has already delighted many people and will continue to do so.
In general, the d'Elmar perfumes are all well done. The bottles are also all beautiful.

If I had to choose, however, I would personally go for the classic, Angels Share.
I like the slightly sweeter appeal.
Nevertheless, Zaya is a great fragrance! There are certainly many who would rather reach for it.

Majestique
It has come to my attention several times now, that people often compare it to Kilian's "Angels' share". It's not true. It's similiar but it definitely doesn't have THIS spark which Zaya, on the other hand presents beautifully. And let's be totally honest, look at the presentation and try to say truthfully that Kilian did better job. You can't, because he didn't. Parfums d'elmar, totally crush it and that maybe due to the fact that they are quite different scents.

The packaging is absolutely stunning. The cap and the bottle itself are quite heavy, which gives us an immense sense of opulence and class, as expected. The golden cap imitates gold unbeatably, and the emerald- ombre cut glass is definitely doing it's job. But what happens inside, now, that's something.

Right up front, we smell a big amount of cognac booziness that gradually fade into sweet and how beautiful apple and honey. The whole is carefully wrapped up in tad of freshness emanating from bergamot and that righ amount of nutmeg spiciness. What stays with us for almost entire time is undisputably apple, honey and boozy cognac in the back.
What binds together all those elements is cinnamon, date and later vanille and praline. They give us that absolute gourmand feeling which is unforgettable. But to be plain the sweetness in this scent is not tacky at all, and to make it quite certain creator added some animalistic notes to it. Oakwood absolute, sandalwood, tonka bean and amber. They provide us with woody and smoky breath of wind, giving the whole that needed wild base.

I don't think the fragrance is bilateral. And to your suprise I find it more feminine than masculine, because of that sweetness normallny occuring in more lady-like fragrances. The longevity and sillage is absolutely WILD. It's way beyond any charts, it lasts all day and anyone in the room can smell you. After all Parfums D'elmar created an uneven playing field for others. They have come up with the idea of something new, not Extrait de parfum but Qintessence de parfum. That's the highest concentration of parfum you can possibly get. The price is personal preference to be honest, I find it just right for an extremly high quality product like this one, but others may disagree. Anyways, normally I'd say be careful how much you put it on, but who cares, right? You deserve to smell beautifully so grab it and use it as much as you like because you definitely are going to be the best smelling person out there.

Less worn alternative to the Kilian Angels Share
Personally, I find Zaya to be a sweet, gourmand fragrance for special occasions. Opinions differ enormously when it comes to longevity, but the fragrance performs really well on my skin. However, to be honest, I find Zaya a little boring and not spectacular. The fragrance doesn't change much on my skin. As I said, the fragrance is very reminiscent of Angels Share and since I don't really find it interesting either, it is probably more due to the DNA of this type of fragrance and not to Zaya in particular. So if you like the Angels Share DNA and want to wear something that not as many people wear as Angels Share, then Zaya by Parfums de Elmar is great for you.

Apple, Cognac in oak wood barrels, dates, cinnamon and praliné. Zaya shares many similarities with Angels' Share. Creamy and woody gourmand.
