Historic fragrance
We never had this perfume in our house, neither during the Soviet era nor after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, so I had no particular sentimental memories when I ordered a small bottle a year ago; I wanted to pay homage to this legendary perfume. At the same time, thanks to a book by Raymond Chandler, I really got to grips with Shalimar (a femme fatale wore this fragrance) and developed an interest in old fragrances as a result.
Apparently, the new reformulation of the fragrance is not quite what Krasnaya Moskva used to be, and yet that distinctive DNA remains. If you like Shalimar and Chanel No. 5, you will also like this fragrance. Admittedly, it is not for the faint-hearted. To be able to wear the fragrance, you probably need to have experienced something like the collapse of the Soviet Union :-D
Joking aside, the fragrance is very assertive and mature, definitely something for a self-confident and strong woman who is not afraid of smelling too "old-fashioned" for modern noses. The fragrance may feel like it's been around forever (apparently perfume historians have even proven that its formula has the same origins as Chanel No. 5, as the same perfumer may even be behind it), but it doesn't seem old-fashioned, you just have to be experienced enough to understand it. A clear floral-spicy winter perfume, if you want to get a little more mystical and nostalgic on a winter evening, to glide along on somewhat rough waves of scent through a dense cloud of cloves and jasmine, to a destination that only exists in memory...
