Exotic-synthetic start, creamy-salty-aquatic base
I was finally able to get hold of an Asad Zanzibar. After a lot of advertising on social media and a lot of action here, it is now well represented on Lattafa and in some other stores, and at fair prices. Lattafa naturally tempts a lot of people to blindbuy. Especially after the success of the original Asad and this Tropical concept, which is already very appealing to many. Including me, of course, as I really like tropical fragrances and coconut in particular. Zanzibar naturally sounds like a vacation and a good mood, which comes across well in this fragrance.
Absolutely fair price. You get 100ml for between €25 and €30, which is totally fine for such a great summer fragrance. If you want that tropical feeling and don't have too much money to spare, this is a good buy. It is uncomplicated, pleasing and very pleasantly summery. This Zanzibar doesn't smell quite as expensive as the original, for example, but has more of a mid-priced designer vibe. This is not quite so bad, as this fragrance is already fun and has a great summer vibe with coconut.
The bottle is the same as the entire Asad range and the Yara range for women. Here in blue, probably for the aquatics. For Zanzibar, turquoise blue would probably have been more appropriate, but that's beside the point. I really like the bottles, as they feel great in the hand. Lattafa has a much better look. The box is also rather plain in contrast to many others from this brand.
Fragrance: The fragrance starts out very synthetic. Not unpleasant, but this fragrance is far removed from niche DNAs. This is not a bad thing, as it appeals to the target group who like the Le Beau range. Especially at the beginning, there is a lot of sweetness, and of course this coconut Le Beau note. Especially people who like the new Le Beau Paradise Garden will like this top note. Not 1:1, but you get a great inexpensive alternative here. As it progresses, this fragrance becomes much creamier with iris and gets a great salty-aquatic vibe, which I think is great. This extreme sweetness also recedes somewhat, which is great with this creamy-salty aquatic. It becomes very mild after 2-3 hours and fades out pleasantly after a few hours. After the top note, this fragrance is very independent and not really a dupe, as Lattafa likes to do. All in all, a great release for leisure time and the summer sun. This fragrance conveys this beach party vibe very well in particular.
Performance is in the medium range. Longevity is approx. 6-8 hours, with the last 2-3 hours ending very close to the skin. But absolutely fine for leisure time. In addition, this fragrance is very unisex, even if it is declared as a men's fragrance. If you like sweet coconut notes and salty-creamy aquatics, this is the one for you.
Lattafa has not achieved the big hit here, as with the original Asad. Probably also because there is no clear fragrance twin here.
