Lemon cypress forest
This fragrance I really wanted to test, and the dear Turandot has sent me in her selfless way a bottling, thank you again for that.

The description above with green-fresh defines it only vaguely, although rather people with a preference for this scent will feel addressed here.

So now my impressions of it: at the first sniff comes a touch of "something strange", which I know but can not name. It is a fine note, something tart and yet lemony, I suppose it is the juniper berry paired with bergamot, it has something fresh, but also a little bit earthy, which I attribute to the vetiver and just this strange, which I can not grasp. Maybe it's the indicated cypress scent, but that's rather woody, isn't it?!
But only at the end takes over the woody (the cedar?) the scepter and lets the whole thing woody-woody, pleasantly warm finish.
An indescribably well-made fragrance that convinces me, well that's just Chanel.

Thank you for your attention and time to read this.

Highlander with French flair
I confess: I mainly know Scotland from television reports, not just about the British royals, and from the novels made into films by Rosamunde Pilcher.
They allow me to get to know a landscape that I would not do well in nature: I am somehow very Mediterranean and therefore not at all suited to this interesting and yet somewhat very rustic, rugged beauty.
Just reading about her sometimes makes me reach for a warmer jacket.

So, of course, "Paris - Édimbourg" from the "Les Eaux de Chanel" fragrance series is a delightful temptation, an encounter that is first fresh and spicy, then polished and multi-faceted, for which Olivier Polge is once again responsible.
After testing a few of his fragrance compositions for this series, I find his interpretation of the landscape extremely appealing and so I am happy to follow him through a plantation of light to dark green cypress spears and soft silky cedars with their slightly powdery aroma to a clearing where, thanks to the miracle of the Gulf Stream, a Hesperides grove with its golden fruits has found a home.
All their citrusy freshness, not only from ripe bergamot and lemons, but also their wood and foliage scented by the warmth of the sun in the wide sky, seem to have been infused into this creation; nothing is scratchy or biting.
Only the resilient, prickly juniper with its silvery-grey ripe dark blue berries emits rustic spice; a spice that adds that certain something to the gin and tonic at the end of the day in the late afternoon, early evening.
(It doesn't always have to be the expected Scotch whisky; this light, seemingly watery liquid also has its fans, who can choose one of the now numerous varieties with the most diverse "perfumes")
At first, this spice stings a little, but Vetiver's well-known personality and popular, classic base accompaniment harmoniously polishes off any corners and edges of the fragrance that may be too pungent, thus skillfully completing this wonderful fragrance picture.

Fresh, clear and spicy cool, like Scotland's landscape with dark forests, mysterious lochs under a wide, mostly cloud-filled sky:
This is the feeling that "Paris - Édimbourg" gives me; a patchwork fragrance impression of green, brown, gray and all the colors associated with the sun develops extremely pleasantly - present and yet not annoying and becoming softer, silkier over the course of the fragrance development, when the cedar wood once again takes over the scepter, or rather: the powder box, and thus ensures a well-rounded, spicy fragrance experience.

As we all know, "Paris - Édimbourg" also bears the name "Eau": So once again I experience the transparency of a fragrance that inspires me so much, which makes this series so interesting and wearable for me.

They are not intended to entice, beguile or seduce, but rather stand for skillfully thought-out short trips away from everyday life, for likeable companions full of French esprit and therefore don't get boring too quickly.
They also have the stylish elegance that characterizes this series.
They make fragrant statements that are definitely worth their weight in gold.

Getting to know some of the fragrances from the two series "Les Eaux de Chanel" and "Les Exclusifs de Chanel" was valuable to me; they show that even a new generation of fragrance creations does not harm a time-honored name.
Father and son Polge have created beautiful and wearable examples here.
Many thanks for these fragrant flying visits!

Chanel’s latest for men
Clean and fresh with a cooling green effect. Smells very traditional without smelling old fashioned in any way, and also very natural. It’s quite an uplifting fragrance and the performance is surprisingly good.

The sprayer is great, producing a nice light cloud of fragrance, to fit with the idea of natural light “eaux” fragrances.

This is the most masculine of the Les Eaux line that I have tried, and definitely my favorite of the bunch.

Fresh and unobtrusive
Consistent green freshness throughout and suitable for almost any occasion. A fragrance that is sure to appeal to many. Also perfect for summer. Lightly but pleasantly reminiscent of ginger.

The bottle has a beautiful minimalist design and feels high-quality. Only the sprayer could be of a higher quality.

Looking towards the light
When I was a child, it was somewhat common to lay out branches of juniper or spruce at the entrance of your house around Christmas. When you arrived as a guest and stepped on this festive season's door mat, it releases the snow from underneath your shoes while at the same time the branches would release a strong conifer scent of essential oils – a scent that reigned supreme in a botanical world that was otherwise in its deepest winter sleep. In a child's mind, that scent also initiated and released all the suspense and joy over arriving at a Christmas party, at the homes of relatives you did not see much for the rest of the year. The house itself would smell fresh of pine needles and lavender, since everyone used a special, natural soap for the kind of wooden floors that are common in my country.

Little surprise for me personally, then, living through a few fairly cold and dark weeks every year, that Paris-Édimbourg quickly became my favourite winter fragrance. It has very well blended notes that I find immensely bright and refreshing – in a dark winter it is the perfect uplifting scent for outdoor activities that brightens your day every time. The sun's winter solstice has passed, and all your biological, unconscious focus is on the fact that every day brings a little more light and spring is a little bit closer in time. Although Paris-Édimbourg is not a signature scent for me, it is the perfect companion for those days.

Really fresh, green and citrusy. Smells a bit like drinking a G&T in a forest. Aromatic and quite different. A little soapy on the dry-down

It has its flaws (especially longevity) but it’s the best interpretation of juniper-citrus I’ve come across. A refreshing glass of gin fizz.

Refreshing, bright and herbal! It opens aromatic with juniper & cypress but is quickly joined by citrus to dry down to a vetiver-woody base.
