she followed her star
"Les Exclusifs de Chanel": This series brings together fragrance compositions that each represent a chapter from Coco Chanel's life
For example, "Coromandel" shows her love for the precious screens of the same name, with which she lavishly decorated her hotel suite in the last years of her life; "Boy" refers to her great love for "Boy" Capel, who died in a car accident (I have already discussed this love several times here) and "Misia", Misia Sert, dedicated to the "muse of Paris" and also from the House of Christian Dior (see there: she was also his muse and trusted friend) with a fragrance of the same name, find their place here.
But how does "Le Lion de Chanel" fit into this series? Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel was born under the zodiac sign of Leo and attributed her strength, her genius and her passion to this proud image; she even believed that she embodied its characteristics perfectly.
So it is only natural that a fragrance was also dedicated to this part of Mademoiselle: Sensual, leathery and resinous-smoky, radiant:
"A Star was born" could be the title of this stylish and pleasantly wearable composition by Olivier Polge.
Resinous, leathery and sensual, this creation makes itself comfortable on my skin, settles in for a long time and envelops me without losing the radiance of bergamot and lemon and also the warmth of the sensually soft vanilla in the leathery-ambery labdanum smoke and an earthy golden-brown patchouli beauty with creamy, but also masculine-animalic sandalwood accents. Here, each fragrance component corresponds with the other in a balanced and harmonious way.
We can almost see the shadowy figure of a proud lion striding majestically out of the fragrance mist, lingering briefly.
But after just a moment, this apparition disappears again, leaving behind a memorable and elegant scent that is always appropriate.
Once again, I was surprised by the transparent yet rich beauty of one of these creations of the new Chanel fragrance generation, for which father and son Jacques and Olivier Polge are responsible.
I will never join the fan club around Mademoiselle, but I really like what I have been able to get to know recently through generous bottlings of the newer fragrance creations.
Yes, in some cases I am even enchanted by what I discover, by this unfussy elegance with that certain something that adorns and accompanies so stylishly and elegantly.
It's almost a little difficult for me to pass on these bottlings; but I keep my promises, even if it takes a little longer this time for the fragrance letter to travel.
I know that the next surprise could be waiting for me just around the corner in this highly interesting world of fragrances.
Today I'm going to wrap myself in "Le Lion de Chanel" once again, but soon it will be time to say:
"Allons-y"!
