Heart of Fire.
No one would know from looking at the bottle that this wasn't a freshie. Just look at it. Cool blue, silver cap with what look like ice cracks etched in the top; or perhaps a camelbak bladder full of water. Sure looks like it from the side. But no, this little baby messes with your mind from the very first spray.
Immediately what I get is a blast of Dior Fahrenheit. And I mean immediately. There's no mistaking it - the smooth, slightly sour and aromatic combination of green florals, spices and leather reminiscent of refined gasoline. No overtly citrus top, no sweetness, no amber or heavy woods. It's simply a linear representation of the heart of Fahrenheit, through and through, with the edges rounded off and watered down to an eau de cologne (which it is btw). As a result, it doesn't change much through the mid, quickly becoming a skin scent after about 2 hours with the musk really dominating.
Longevity is only about 3 hours total on me, but the projection for the first hour is rather impressive. I remember hearing someone mention that they thought this smelled like Ralph Lauren's Polo, but I don't agree. Same era, definitely, but it's Fahrenheit alright. Couldn't find the notes anywhere either; but if I had to guess - chamomile, lavender, nutmeg, carnation, violet leaf, vetiver, sandalwood, leather and musk.
So don't be fooled by the name or presentation. It's got nothing to do with tropical fruit or aquatics. Instead, think petrol spilled on a polyurethane couch from the 90s. AWESOME. lol Originally bought it for kicks and to satisfy my intermittent craving for Fahrenheit but without the beastly performance or occasional obnoxiousness. Plus the price really can't be beat. And since when did Claiborne start making clones?
Verdict - Dirt cheap time machine with a heart of fire. Only, more like flash paper. In a deceivingly ice-cold looking bottle. Wha? Believe it.
