Coconuts in the Waldviertel?
"The olfactory fragrance essence of the Waldviertel" - this is how the press release of the fragrance begins and it made me curious, as I was there for a few days in summer for a short vacation for many years. The Waldviertel is known for its cool climate ("cold and rough" according to wikipedia) and as the name suggests, you will find a lot of forest and meadows and hardly any industry.
I therefore expected a rather fresh, rather green, woody scent.
How does the fragrance essence of the Waldviertel?
smell now? In the top note I can smell the "young conifer shoots" (here in the fragrance pyramid only as coniferous woods indicated) - roughly like a fresh Advent wreath. I can't make out lavender and smell like "strawberry heather flowers", I don't know. The conifer shoots can only be smelled for a very short time (that's almost just a moment), then the heart note already opens up, it's hard for me to dröseln and describe them.
My association with it is sunscreen! ... And I wouldn't have expected that from a woodland scent. (There are ponds there and they are also used for bathing, but this is usually a rather fresh endeavour.) I would have rather associated this suncreaminess with typical (hot) beach holidays, probably the coconut is responsible for this impression. I perceive them quite clearly. The scent is of course more: I can smell the resin and the flowers as well - that must be the violets, because I don't discover lily of the valley.
The scent is not sweet, but not bitter either; it is not a light scent, but not a dark scent either - I would settle it in the middle. It also has a certain freshness in its (sun) creaminess. Comment of the teen kid at one of my fragrance tests: "Are you just coming out of the shower?"
Shelf life is quite good (the scent is perceptible all day long), Sillage is not overwhelming, but still more than close up.
Conclusion: I imagined the fragrance differently, but still find it successful!
