Dirty, old civet - with a minimal violet/leather undertone. Tipped or not?
Uff ... yes ... so ...
I'm actually at a bit of a loss right now.
As someone with little money for whom fragrances mean the world, I'm always on the lookout for fragrance samples and minis.
I always check here first to see if the fragrances suit me.
When I saw the Mila Schön - Haute Couture Vintage-Mini 8ml for not even 10€, and then these fragrance notes - violet, leather, patchouli - I knew I had to have it.
Styrax and civet are also included -
and I was really interested in what these fragrances from the past smelled like.
Cats smell wonderful, and fortunately civets are no longer misused for cosmetics today - but I still wanted to know what they smelled like back then..
I ordered other minis with civet, which otherwise have nothing in common with haute couture.
When the minis arrived, I was full of anticipation and excitement.
I was the first to drip Mila Schön.
Wait a few seconds.
Put my wrist to my face and
BAAH !!!
What. Is. that. because ..
At first I thought it was the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled.
So penetratingly animalistic, hard to describe, a mixture of bum, old puddle of urine and something unpleasantly warm and stuffy.
I was horrified.
Of course, I immediately wondered whether it could have been tipped.
Although it was in its original lightproof packaging and "new" ..
I know that cats smell good. On their little heads. After Bebi.
But I'm afraid that civet smells completely different.
(Maybe someone who has cats and knows what civet smells like can confirm this?)
An hour later, this disgusting top note (which smelled more like a base due to the "warmth") became a little weaker, and far "back" on the horizon I could still smell something pleasant.
It reminded me minimally of Simply Eau de Parfum
Leathery, violet, citrus and maybe musk?
But the unpleasant touch unfortunately remained, which makes it unwearable for me ..
I still smelled it the next day.
But perfumes that stink are stupidly always perceived for longer anyway, right?
I tried it on 2 other days, sometimes it was better, sometimes worse, but each time there was that unwashed bum and urine puddle smell
The notes looked so promising....
Btw, the other minis with civet had the same unpleasant touch, just not as extreme.
Now I'm wondering, does civet just smell that nasty, or are they all tipped civets?
