Caramel Overkill
since I like the combination of lavender and vanilla very much, I got myself a 10 ml bottle from Lavandes Trianon by a dear perfumista and was already thinking out of anticipation whether I should not order a bottle immediately - the scents and comments had delighted me so much.

Now I've been testing him for three days and I can say we're not becoming friends.
The lavender comes on my skin again and again very beautifully through and also the vanilla I like - but with the rest I can unfortunately not conform. After two to three hours my perception of the fragrance is only annoyingly sweet, sticky and far too much of everything except the lavender I'm also missing some finesse - after three hours only vanilla and lavender waft and that's it. I prefer to get the eau de parfum "Lavande intensif" from Leblanc - 12 ml only cost 9,90 Euro - and for my nose these two smell quite similar. For the time when I feel like cuddling, the rich one must *g

Lavender field at dusk
I was once handed by an SA a ceramic tester heavily sprayed with Lavandes Trianon, and I was not thrilled at all by its dense cloud of generic gourmand tonka vanilla. But when I got around to try it on my skin, the result is much better.

It opens on my skin as a vivid purple lavender. It's not at all like the metallic, ultra-clean note in certain mainstream masculine sport fragrances. Here, the lavender is aromatic and herbal in a gritty, earthy, deep and resinous way, sometimes even a bit like burnt rubber.

As the fragrance enters into the dry down, the latter nuance shifts gradually into a soft burnt caramel and dried hay undertone thanks to the quiet arrival of vanilla and tonka bean. The initial lively herbal vigour is also soothed by the comfort of vanilla. I was a bit wary whether its commercial gourmand vanilla-tonka base previously observed on the ceramic tester would take over the fragrance. But as long as I'm careful with the amount applied on my skin, Lavandes Trianon is foremost a lavender soliflore, and the vanilla and tonka bean in the base behave more like a filter to soften the contour in a picture.

Although Lavandes Trianon is mostly linear, its tone does shift from the opening to the dry down. If the opening is a field of lavender at dusk, releasing its aromatic yet resinous redolence after bathing under the Mediterranean sun, this field is then caressed by the vanilla like a balmy summer breeze of early evening. I get a moderate sillage during the most part of its 8-hour longevity.

While Lavandes Trianon might not be the most complex lavender fragrance, it does display a wide range of earthy, deep nuances that are rarely featured in mainstream offerings. Its gourmand base also manifests in a measured manner as long as I don't overapply, which helps to avoid triggering gourmand fatigue too often. Personally, I find it more "lavender" and less gourmand than Rochas Man and Mugler A*Men. Although I would hesitate to recommend it to fans of fresh lavender fragrances, Lavandes Trianon would be an interesting option to consider if one ever wants to venture into gourmand territory, and vice-versa for lavender-phobe gourmand fan.

Lancome Lavandes Trianon
This is beautiful.
I was scared/nervous when I ordered this blindly because a lot of the reviews here reported a realistic, herbal lavender, something likened to an essential oil. I don't love a pure lavender smell, even in a lavendar bar of soap, I always prefer it alongside something else, preferrably vanilla.
This perfume is not cheap (even though I did get it for a decent price) so I felt like I was taking a risk by ordering it before I had smelled it but luckily for me, my experience was a positive one.
My fears were put to rest upon first spritz. It is a realistic lavender scent but I didn't find it tremendously herbal or medicinal (thankfully.) The lavender is perfectly tempered with a creamy, fluffy sugar-coated vanilla. It's as if someone had baked a vanilla cake and thrown a handful of dried lavender in the batter, then as it bakes it gives off this soothing, comforting, calming aroma which makes you feel zen.
It's strength and lasting power wasn't an issue for me. I could smell it all day on myself and when I awoke in the morning, I could still smell it.
This fragrance is ethereal and altogether magical.
I am an anxious person by nature and I was hoping this scent might help tone that down a little. I'm happy to report that it did.
I am enamored with this beauty and will treasure each and every drop.

Fluffy lavender
This is a very vanilla heavy milky lavender, It is fluffy and on me it is BEAST mode so spray one to two sprays MAX , and don't even try this in the summertime.
I love the sillage that floats off of my skin, it's a cloud of vanillic lavender.
This is not herbal like some say but does have a lavender cake quality.

From Meh to backup bottle.
I found out about Lavandes Trianon and the rest of the Maison Lancome Grand Cru collection after most were discontinued.
Many, including Lavandes Trianon have a cult following. I read it was one of the best lactonic gourmand fragrances. Prices for some of the discontinued MLGC go for over $400 a bottle!
So when I found a 60% full bottle for $100 I went for it.
It arrived and I ripped open the packaging. I sprayed once on each wrist. Uh??? Where’s the magic??
I smelled a creamy, rounded lavender but not much sweetness or caramel or vanilla sugar.
I was disappointed. I decided it’s going on the swap list.
Many in my fragrance groups quickly messaged me about buying it and that made me smell it again.
I sprayed more liberally this time and it clicked!!
A pot of heavy cream, sweetened with vanilla and sugar; warming on the stove with sprigs of French lavender steeping in the cream.
As it warms, the entire house fills up with the aroma of this lavender pot de crème!
That’s exactly what happens on the skin. The lavender starts off potent but rounded. The opening is it’s most aromatic but it’s soften, edged removed. It’s almost fuzzy like tonka. As it warms on the skin, it becomes sweeter, richer and the vanilla comes forward. The deep dry down is a delicious gooey soft caramel that feel runny. The lavender stays throughout the fragrance. I find this had amazing siliage for hours! I love wearing it to bed. I can smell it all night long and I’m the morning it’s there until I shower. I fell in love. I found a full bottle for $160. Now I have 2 bottles. I never want to be without it; I haven’t smelled anything like it yet. Not Mon Guerlain or Mon Guerlain intense not Libre or Libre Intense. All are beautiful lavender fragrances but none have the lactonic magic that Lavandes Trianon have.

I really like this one. Nice strong, but yet subtle blast of lavender with milky vanillic base. Great casual. Easy to understand. Nice!
