Not just clean but pure
Attention Persil fans and fans of Clean fragrances, spray starch and fabric softener: the detergent perfume range is growing! While The Muse and what felt like 70% of the US brand Clean's portfolio previously shared the top spots in the white-fresh-synthetic league in this category, Jo Malone (as already mentioned in the commentary, very atypically) is preparing to challenge the top dogs with Musk Momento.
Both lavender and cedarwood are often placed in the closet to keep away moths and other textile-damaging pests. So the association with fresh laundry is not far off. I only detect the lavender as a very subtle undertone, the synthetic woody freshness is too strong. No moth survives here!
The almost obligatory musk is neither powdery nor sweet on my skin, but rather powder-dry. Some of the "dry" iris fragrances go in the same direction. If you like this kind of fragrance (I do), you will like Musk Momento (I do!).
On the Jo Malone homepage there is the quote "inspired by a ceramic soap dish" - that fits 100%.
Nevertheless, it reminds me very much of Pure Soap, although the Malone is drier and without sweetness/floral notes. In my opinion, this also makes the Malone more unisex, even if most men in my environment are not so lavish with fabric softener or scented pearls (by the way: Lenor fresh cotton smells almost the same!). Meanwhile, my husband was abused for the 1:1 comparison test and attested that the Clean fragrance was "a bit sweeter". The price difference (Malone: OVP 74€ for 30ml versus Clean 60ml for ~40€) and the availability - the Malone is limited - should also be interesting for little to little difference.
I find the bottle almost a little too "romantic" for the harsh cleanliness of the fragrance, a silver instead of matt gold lid would have been more appropriate. Otherwise, simple as usual.
By the way, durability is very good! Still very good after 5+ hours on the skin.
