Pleasing fall mainstream
This release is already a few months old. If I remember correctly, this flanker came out in spring. Not necessarily something I was looking for, so I only tested or bought this Le Male Elixir a few days ago. Even though you can wear such fragrances in the evening all year round, this release is more for fall/winter.
I really like the Le Male range. Even if there are many haters who simply hate flanker fragrances, there are hardly any bad releases in this series for me. Especially the last few years with Le Parfum and the Pride Edition. The Puig fragrances are great, precisely because the performance never falls short. I don't mind the many flankers as long as they are well made. Marketing is a bit boring, of course, but if you want to smell good, you should try them too.
The price is still quite high, as is the case with new releases. but you can get 75ml for around 70 euros and the 125ml for around 100 euros. The Le Parfum is a little cheaper, as you can often get the 200ml for under 100 euros.
The bottle is really pretty with the golden grooves. This bottle comes in the usual tin like all the others in this range.
Listed as a twin here is Le Parfum. Definitely goes in that direction. Roughly. It's an exciting battle. In the ranking of men's fragrances on EssenceVitae, Le Parfum is in 22nd place, this one in 34th place. Both are rightly very well received here. If I had to choose between the two, it wouldn't be so easy. Both have their charms, but I would go for Le Parfum by a narrow margin. For many, the Elixir is also the best flanker. You should definitely check them out and owning both is not a bad idea in the cooler months.
Like Le Parfum, Quentin Bisch also has his fingers in the pie. For me, he is one of the best perfumers of recent years and he has once again done a great job here. The vibe is similar to Le Parfum, but this Elixir is more versatile due to a slightly fresher mint, less sweetness and the lack of a cardamom note. Some also claim that it goes in the direction of TF Noir Extreme. I cannot confirm this. For me, it has accents of the original Le Male, of Le Parfum, but also its own approaches.
Not much progression is recognizable. Whether there are really only 4 notes in this fragrance is hard to say. However, these four are definitely very perceptible. The sweet lavender tonka is already classic for the Le Male fragrances. It's a combo that I really like in the fall and will always go down well with the masses. The fresh mint brings some lightness and subtle freshness. It is very pleasant to wear. Resinous benzoin is also perceptible and enhances this creation. These balsamic notes round off this DNA perfectly and ensure a high cuddle factor.
All in all, I think this is a fragrance that you can also wear in everyday life. Significantly more than Le Parfum. The fragrance is not too provocative and is a cozy accompaniment on cooler days. However, it is also a great alternative in the evening and for nightlife.
There will be plenty of compliments. This DNA is simply a crowdpleaser and you get a unique twist to it.
Performance is once again really good like most Puig fragrances. You get a minimum of 10 hours with good sillage over many hours.
