Neither Thick Nor Thin
ILAYA is my first experience with the house of Isabel Deorroisme. I'd describe this as a vanilla-amberish perfume, although from the notes it should perhaps smell like something else. Aside from a tinge of benzoin in the drydown, none of the notes listed seems clearly identifiable to my nose: myrrh, coffee, incense, cardamom, ginger... Instead, this perfume has a homogenized quality, seeming to me smooth and golden brown, with a slightly sweet (not at all cloying) comfort-scent demeanor.
I wouldn't describe this as a "thin" oriental, but it's also not very heavy or very spicy. ILAYA is a simple, pleasant cold weather composition with medium sillage. Unfortunately, the longevity is quite poor on my skin.
