A white chair under softly whispering palm trees, overlooking the expanse of the Mediterranean and the colorful crowd strolling by.
Yes, I'm sitting on the "Promenade des Anglais" right now, enjoying this spectacular view and a touch of "savoir vivre"!
The car traffic is behind me; but that doesn't matter: the time of the playboys in their convertibles worth another look seems to be over anyway.
(Or is that just my age making it seem so?)
Thoughts wander ahead to a cocktail at the Hotel "Negresco"; where one time the rich and famous resided: Impressions from "Over the Roofs of Nice" pass me by.
In my former life, I might even have liked it in this hotel; but maybe it's just the stage for "Lots of money and no style", as a good acquaintance once judged these posh hotels.
As a diplomat's daughter, she knew what she was talking about the last time we met in our Baden-Baden hotel.
But be it as it may:
The images that Guerlain's "Promenade des Anglais" evokes in me are very vivid and make me want to pack my bags immediately and discover it all in person.
Even though it is "a light fragrance", it is not a lightweight!
The "young generation" of Guerlain fragrances is no longer so powerful; much more adapted to the times: a little less pretentious, a little less glamorous!
But I like just this charm of the new generation.
And "Promenade des Anglais" is one of the most charismatic creatures from this "fragrance kindergarten".
Now I also like the aroma of ripe figs, which spreads here on a carpet of fresh grapefruit and bergamot scents.
The violet of the fig fruit harmonizes tastefully with the equally deep purple scents of violet and iris. Both are not sparing with their fragrance gifts and so "Promenade des Anglais" already embodies a certain flair of fragrance luxury.
And of course, vanilla may not be missing here: a creamy-creamy blanket that spreads languidly and sensually on the previous fragrance picture. A bit lascivious she is already, this fruit from the family of Aphrodite fragrances.
