Oh, let me tell you how potent this scent is. REAL potent. If you're looking for a gourmand, sweet, spicy vanilla cake that will surround you in a bubble of divine deliciousness, this is your girl right here.
At first spray, I smell this divine orange type of pastry made with vanilla and a hint of spices. It's beautiful, in the same vein as Casamorati - Lira Eau de Parfum without the lemon and powdery part. Love & Crime is more of a sugary, photorealistic cake scent. After a while, like I suspected, the spices come out strong. My skin chemistry definitely had something to do with it. Pink pepper, star anise and cocoa rise to give the scent a more spicy twist. It's a little bit bitter, earthy, and darker with that spicy sting. I definitely never smelled floral notes. The vanilla cake note finally comes out strong, batting out the spicy notes from the spotlight. They never really leave, but subside a bit to lend a spicy tone to the overall bakery scent, toning things down so it never becomes too cloying or too sickening sweet.
If you're looking for a strong vanilla cake with spices and a lovely mandarin orange scent, this is the way to go. There's no powdery aspect (which is something that appealed very much to me) and gourmands will want to add this to their collection for sure. Beware about the potency of this fragrance: do not overspray. Probably best worn during colder weather to let the scent shine through. I'll be contemplating adding a bottle to my collection.
