Rose rose rose rose jam
There are a lot of notes listed for Rosarine, but I have to say, it really mostly smells like rose the whole way through, and the other notes are there to emphasize and bring out all the aromatic facets of rose.
Rosarine opens up with a fruity but thickly honeyed rose, that also has significant peppery, spicy and green facets, a little like a touch of carnation. I read someone called it oily, and I could see that, it almost gives the impression of high quality rose oil. Eventually the green and spicy facets die down, and the honey gives way to sugar, turning Rosarine into a very sweet rose jam. And it stays rose jam, perhaps with a large dose of raspberry and a touch of cinnamon if I am looking for them.
On my husband Rosarine opens up much sweeter with less floral facets. He also doesn't get nearly as much green or spiciness and the sugar comes out a lot faster. However, the drydown is much less fruity, more vanillic sweet and maybe a little earthier on him though I'd still say it predominantly gives the impression of rose jam.
I *love* jammy roses, and this may be the jammiest of them all. Interestingly, it made me think that usually I prefer my jammy roses anchored by a more prominent woody and/or resinous base, but Rosarine has so much depth, I don't think she needs it.
Rosarine wears somewhat close to the skin, being quite dense, and therefore does not soar. On me it's still going strong 11hrs in. On my husband it lasted well for 10hrs and then faded quickly.
