Si, No, Forse
It was quite a few years ago when I visited Hamburg for a long weekend with a good friend and we stayed with a family friend of hers. There was a large bottle of CerrutiSi in the guest toilet and I couldn't resist taking a sniff. Mind you, the bottle wasn't hidden in the cupboard and I think most perfumers would have followed their olfactory reflex. So there should be nothing morally reprehensible about sniffing the spray head.
Anyway, this was my first encounter with CerrutiSi and I found the fragrance woody, soft and pleasant. The bottle had something elegant and sophisticated about it, but it wasn't enough to make me want to buy it.
I recently came across CerrutiSi at a small private flea market stall in a half-filled 40 ml version and was able to pick it up for a very small price. The bottle showed a few signs of wear, needed a little cleaning and the contents showed no signs of the fragrance being tipped or otherwise compromised in any way.
At home, I was able to test it more intensively and found it to be lightly woody with minimal sourness, which is probably due to the rather synthetic ginger and the no less artificial mandarin. Otherwise, the cedar clearly sets the tone with hints of resin. All the other ingredients listed in the pyramid are within the realm of possibility, albeit quite restrained. However, benzoin, patchouli and oakmoss are not clearly recognizable. In my opinion, the sweetness and powderiness mentioned is also hinted at, so it has nothing to do with the concepts that are classically understood by these terms.
In addition to the cedar-woody structure, there is a slight hint of nuttiness in the background. Nevertheless, CerrutiSi oscillates somewhere between "fresh and woody" and "a little flat". During my research, I also noticed that this EdT has since been discontinued and is fetching quite high prices on various online platforms. Apparently, some lovers of the creation are willing to pay quite a lot for it, which I honestly can't quite understand when I look at my CerrutiSi now.
Maybe there is something wrong with it after all.
At the moment I'm thinking about whether I should keep it or put it in the souk and swap it for something else, if someone wants it and thinks that everything in this description is correct. After all, I didn't buy it as an object of speculation, but if it might make someone else happier ...
