Former Signature Fragrance :)
Yes... there was almost a whole year in which I exclusively wore this fragrance. Very expensive back then. I got it from my parents for Christmas 2013 and didn't want anything else. 2014 I was in only Paris at the Place Vendome :) Sweet, floral, very feminine and very sensual... This was by far the most feminine fragrance I have ever worn. I'm known for my men's perfumes and that wasn't really me. But he really enchanted me. It is something very special in this fragrance. French but not too classic and not too ladylike, gourmandig but not too heavy and not too pudding. I emptied the bottle down to the last drop and have had a 100ml bottle in my online shopping cart for months now. Which only prevents me from buying... Do I want to bring 2014 back? Hmm...

Less is more, but more can also be more
Opening with a finely peppery, citrusy freshness, Place Vendôme spontaneously has the feel of a summer fragrance. And this remains the case for the first twenty minutes or so, until the citrus has receded and the fragrance becomes warmer and softer. Powder is then added as it progresses. I really like the powdery note, it creates a sophisticated impression and for a brief moment I thought that I could have easily assumed it was a Chanel. However, something sweet is soon added, which diminishes the Chanel impression again. I really like the sweetness, even if I don't perceive it as honey, it's certainly not the burnt sweetness of Maltol, which has ruined so many other fragrances for me.
Summer fragrance? No, in the meantime Place Vendôme has become a fragrance that can no longer be classified in terms of seasons. It is light and bright enough to be worn in spring and summer, its mildness and pleasant sweetness are well suited to fall, and the increasing, powder-dry warmth makes it suitable for winter, despite its lightness.
The fragrance notes also give me the impression of a so-called evergreen: Citrusy freshness that fades, calming, light powder, a friendly sweetness and then dry cedar as it progresses, all rather restrained. The pepper remains throughout the entire fragrance.

A really successful fragrance.
Nevertheless - something is missing for me personally. That certain something. Or maybe nothing is actually missing. Maybe it's just that I don't like the orange blossom style that much, that I always find pepper fragrances too artificial in large doses, and that cedar is not an appealing fragrance for me in itself. For me, cedar is a note that can be wonderful in combination (as in Theria, for example). But it can also be meaningless and unattractive, in which case it is not distracting. Or, together with certain musks, it can evoke an unpleasant smell of plastic in me. Fortunately, the latter is not the case with Place Vendôme, but unfortunately neither is the former.

Place Vendôme is beautiful. I can wear it with pleasure and satisfaction on various occasions. But I am a perfumer. I know other fragrances, including so-called evergreen fragrances, which not only convince me - whether because they have that certain something extra or because they have less pepper and fewer notes that are rather unappealing to me - but really inspire me.

When haute joaillerie uses diamonds with inclusions....
Flawless, flawless, exquisite, noble, magnificent, radiant, exclusive, luxurious... SO one imagines jewels of Boucheron.

That transfers itself then inevitably also to the products the French luxury jeweller still in the offer has, among other things also smells... This inevitable mindset then additionally solidifies after one has used/uses the Boucheron fragrance JAIPUR. Like the jewelry: Highest quality and a corresponding reputation.

With the fragrance Place Vendome was, to say it times on "jewelry", worked as follows:

Platinum? No, white gold will do (expensive)
Design? Noble, but not too grandiose (expensive)
Custom made? No, this time Pret-a-Joaillerie (still RIGHT expensive)
Diamonds? Flawless, as usual? NO, inclusions are ok, don't have to be pure-white either, and the carat count can be smaller (NOW it's just unjustifiably OVERPRICED!)

So is the fragrance unfortunately also become :-( The basic framework is right, only unfortunately was "saved" in the actual, the fragrance.... Very volatile sparkle, with visible inclusions and quality-reducing discoloration...

That goes better!

Place Partout
A long time ago in a perfumed galaxy distant to ours, those bottles which were beautiful enough and a bit more ambitious than your average Joe, were lucky winners. They (i.e. their contents) could while away the hours snuggling up to an attractive lady's bosom, probably somewhere between Place Vendôme and Rue de la Paix. They were neither called mainstream nor niche perfumes, they were just "parfums".
Today, most perfumes are anything but happy. In fact they are a miserable bunch. The root cause of their problems is of course the tin-pot notion that everyone should own several "modern" perfumes which means that the average perfume bottle (and its contents!) become suprisingly common. Upon smelling "Place Vendôme" I could spend hours bemoaning the loss of quality (and even lifestyle) this average scent is an example of - but this would be nearly as pointless as being unable to accept that flip-flops are not a suitable form of footwear for the office. Modern orange blossom-honey-jasmine-artificial-cedarwood-fragrances deserve our sympathy and should be hugged. I mean, it's our duty to feel sorry for them. Especially when they are called "Place Vendôme" and smell like "Place Partout" or "Passe Partout".

Springtime For A Young Woman
Such a light, delicate scent to wear. Reminiscent of flowing, long, gauzy dresses and wide, straw-brimmed hats, tall grasses, and beautiful trees with wide arms full of green leaves towering above me, blue skies with patches of white breezy clouds and the air is warm. This is a light perfect perfume for the spring weather.
The woods of cedar immediately burst through with roses and muted jasmine, while creamy pralines delicately mix with notes of honey. Vendome Boucheron seems classic in its projection, never overpowering, always ladylike, always subtle, ever gentle.
I could see this a a wedding day perfume for a very young woman because of its lack of sexuality or flirtatiousness. Its simple. Its clean. Its elegant with a hint of pepper peeking through, ever so powdery at its dry down. The benzoin lends its hand to a creamy vanilla finish that sits and intermixes well with the woods as this perfume ends its run.

I often wear this fragrance to work but I'm sure I won't be able to remember how it smells right after I have finished the bottle.
