Autumn / Winter must have

Benjoin Boheme is a very warm amber / benzoin fragrance.
Yes, this is not a deep, dark, resinous scent. Nevertheless, it belongs to my top ten autumn / winter fragrances. It is a soft and elegant scent that is very sophisticated and well constructed. There are many good warm resinous scents out there, but this one is quite special. Perhaps it is Angelica here that gives the scent both a certain coolness and warmth. The scent is not complex, yet the ingredients are chosen so high quality, which makes the scent so exceptionally good. It is somewhat reminiscent of roasted chestnuts - warm, woody, nutty. It is slightly sweet without going towards gourmand. This slightly sweet vanilla accord comes from benzoin. By the way, this benzoin pepper accord is slightly reminiscent of Enigma (Roja). The slight nuttiness comes from patchouli.
This is an extremely attractive amber fragrance that I really enjoy wearing.
Because of the deep, beautiful woody warmth and the exquisite quality of the notes, this fragrance leaves a very pleasant, high-quality and warm impression.
For me, the fragrance is unisex, with a very slight bias towards masculine.
Fragrance lasts very long, but sillage and projection are rather mediocre.
Is it worth a blind buy? Oh yes!!!

What a Man!

Diptyque calls Benjoin Bohéme the fragrance of a British dandy. And that's exactly what you get after the first sniff.

He resides in an old-fashioned but thoroughly elegant apartment with heavy velvet curtains and works of art from all over the world that he has acquired on his travels. Our dandy lies in bed on Tuesday morning, still feeling the after-effects of the party the night before. The scent of cognac that a party guest spilled on his tuxedo is still in the air.

Thirsty and hungry, the dandy calls for his housekeeper, but no one comes. Suddenly he remembers that she had quit because he had forgotten to pay her wages. Now he also realizes where the patchouli dust in the air comes from, as this is also the reason why no one has dusted his art collection for a long time. How annoying, but our dandy simply has no sense for the banal things of everyday life. So we freshen up and then head off to a club for a late breakfast. While our dandy freshens up, he lights benzoin incense and applies a few drops of amber perfume after shaving. Then he puts the signet ring on his finger and sets off to fortify himself before heading to the family estate in the country to argue with the hunchbacked relatives and drink a fine brandy by the carmine after hunting together. If you want to inherit, you have to suffer.

Whether in the club or with the house staff, our dandy is always warm-hearted, charming and with a twinkle in his eye, which is why nobody can hold his little faux pas against him. And that's exactly how Benjoin Bohéme is. At first, it has light notes of cognac, patchouli is slightly dusty and gives it a distinct vintage charm. Benzoin provides the sweet resinousness and ambergris the depth and warmth.

In my environment, the fragrance generates consistently positive reactions and is extremely long-lasting. However, it is advisable to spray sparingly so as not to overwhelm yourself, then you have a pleasant, enveloping companion at your side all day long. Due to its warmth, Benjoin Bohéme is an ideal candidate for fall and winter days. It also cuts a fine figure in the evening - very dandy - with an elegant wardrobe. Benjoin Bohéme can be worn by all genders, the only basic qualification being a preference for warm fragrances with a vintage character. In my opinion, however, it is a fragrance that you have to grow into in terms of age. Younger is not always better.

However, I have to criticize the change to the bottle. I was still lucky enough to get the wonderful bottle with the dark red round stopper and the broken glass look. Benjoin Bohéme is now available in the classic black eau de parfum bottle with a golden label. Our dandy would definitely have preferred the old version.

the tragedy of the beautiful, ill-fitting fragrance

Benjoin Boheme unfurls like a clinging veil of memory, a scarred ridge of sepia dreamscape where an ache of memories and ancestral yearning shimmers at the edges of perception. The heady, honeyed sweetness of balsam, benzoin, and amber mingles with the dry herbal whisper of rockrose, but it's a displaced, disconnected twinge of borrowed nostalgia –it's not yours, it doesn’t belong to you, this dusty incense of melancholic longing, and yet it’s tethered close, entangled with damp, earthy tendrils of patchouli. Beneath it all, a static unease hums like the feel of cobwebs brushing against the skin, like your reflection as it fades into the darkness behind you, like glimpsing the subject of a gauzy, blurred antique photograph and looking closer only to discover your own eyes gazing back at you from across time.

Overhyped for what it is. Medical grade patchouli with vanilla. Starts great, dies off into patchouli hospital. Reminds me off NHS hallways
